Radeon RX 480 "Polaris" Launched at $199

the price point of the 480 wont really matter a lot in the long run, if the recession is here to stay, every segment will see it's price hiked up, 480 would still have the best perf/£ value.
just need more time for the stock to clear, so that ppl put the price into perspective, because right now they still see things pre-brexit

Do we know what time we can actually buy one of these tomorrow?

Unless it's shockingly bad, which I can't see happening, I'll be buying one tomorrow as it's the only half decent card in my budget that's not EOL.

Why do people give fottemberg a pass... he's just as clickbaity as the rest of the rumour mongers. Plus he is biased to AMD by his own admission. Not something a journalist should be.

i believe gibbo said 2pm

It still needs to compete with those EOL cards, just because its shiny doesn't mean its better than those older cards, what matters is performance and how much £.

so, to summarise what i have read am i correct in thinking:

On sale from 2pm
8gb @ £220
Not as good as a gtx 970 (rumoured)

Bit cheaper now as when gibbo posted he ref 1.31 and he said the exchange rate he uses is from bank/xe (i think) and on xe it says 1.33 now so i think would be £214. Unless it falls again tomorrow.

Yeah, screw the launch prices to compare to. At the end of the day the people who buy will just look at whats the best power for cheapest price. If this 480 is £215-220 for 8gb but theres a 970 for £209 and whilst it is older and less vram it still is what the 480 is looking to basically compete with so id say people would go for the 970. Or they might grab a 390x for 260 ish as thats more 980 speeds for just £30 more. True it might be a bit more power hungry and hotter but not many will care about those things.

Except it wasn't a dictatorship. You believed the hype.

It pretty much is when they talk about making it as difficult as possible for a country to leave to the point of being spiteful about it. The true face of the EU started showing more when we came out saying that we were leaving. Even to the point where they are going to be changing legislation now to make it harder for a country to leave.

But this is the RX480 thread so enough of that talk. :)
