Radeon RX 480 "Polaris" Launched at $199

Well not really. The reason it costs £220 is because that's the same value objectively. Now it might feel more expensive to you, if your wages don't also go up with the same inflation of the GPU, but that's really your wages going down in real terms, not the GPU going up.
It doesn't really matter how you want to phrase it. The end result is that we now have to pay more for the card than we did a week ago.

Found this from a Reddit link:

Someone posted some bechmarks on a chinese forum.

Firestrike graphics scores :

Firestrike = 12680
Firestrike Extreme = 5653
Firestrike Ultra = 2723

Looks around 390X level I think and using old drivers. Crimson 16.6.1 (06/06/2016).
You should really retire from this whole 'looks around 390X/980 level' claims after you post these, cuz you've been wrong nearly every time. Sorry to be harsh.

Anyways, those scores are not great. A 970 can beat all those scores.

Still, just an artificial bench. It's gaming performance that matters.

I shifted a 980 to have funds for this card (was hoping for equal performance and better performance in DX12).

That was a stupid decision - the 480 will barely match the 980 in most games, even if it does completely match a 980, then your loosing money for no additional gain.

The only upgrade from a 980 is a 980ti, titan, 1070 or 1080.

Well... it will be a tough call tomorrow morning.

Options:

1) Go to work early and flip through the reviews at 9am and purchase/not purchase
2) Wait it out at home at 9am instead and then go to work....

I have a feeling option 1 is going to be better, since I not hyped for this.

Hardly stupid really considering I can just buy another 980 if needed and have money left over from my sale, I got a good price for my card considering recent drops. Could even probably buy my brother's 980ti for £250 with a little persuasion. I certainly haven't lost anything!

Like I said, it was a planned free side grade with potentially better DX12 performance, brand new with full warranty. Plus I really want to love AMD, but they just look like they're about to miss by a whisker.

They may still pull something out of the hat and surprise us... Or maybe that's wishful thinking again.

The stock cooler really does look like junk if those are real. Getting same in game temps as my OC 290 and that's using like 2.5x the power...

Indeed. Also, if we voted to remain the rate was forecast to go to near 1.6 again. It already rallied to 1.51 the day before when everyone thought remain would win :(

So instead of them being potentially CHEAPER than £199 they are now going to be £220 or more. Brilliant.
