Radeon RX 480 "Polaris" Launched at $199

Ehh. The US MSRP is already going to be £200 minimum for the reference models. Of course the AIBs will go up to £250 for premium models.

The exchange rates, regional markup and price gouging in the UK applies equally to AMD and nvidia cards.

Have you checked the prices in the US? Same thing going on over there (minus Vat of course). All we can do is hope that Polaris turns out to be a stellar overclocker, otherwise we're basically stuck with these prices.

Oh and as for the existence of a RX 490 - think it is just some hopefuls' fever dream, as we have neither heard anything about such a product from AMD nor have there been any leaks, so at this point it seems very very unlikely that we'll see anything like that until the end of the year. :(

AMD themselves stated the price range for Polaris is up to $299, the $299 card hasn't been revealed yet

Be funny If the rx480 ends up with a 2-300mhz boost over a 1266mhz base clock. That apparent 20-30% lead the 1070 has will shrink.

AMD just showing the base performance with ashes. Lol.

Cards in the US are selling for exactly what they should be relative to msrp

If there was no price gouging the price incl vat would be..

Rx480 4gb £165
Rx480 8gb £190
Rx480x or Rx490 8gb £250

There will be gouging, if not from AMD from retailers.

I expect:

Rx480 4gb £165 > £200
Rx480 8gb £190 > £250
Rx480x or Rx490 8gb £250 > £300 (Not sure this card is real though)

do you really think after 1 year of AMD saying they want to drop prices with polaris 10 and increase the tam blabla..., they would sit there and see retailers or AIBs screw up their strategy to retake market share ?
the price will be exactly the same as 380-380X, 169-199£

I hope amd release some info about the $300 card before the 29th,but knowing how amd work, they proberly wont.
But this would be a great time to show what the $300 card is,especially with all the raging going on about the gtx 1070 prices.

Well since the other camp have apparently lost its senses its looking more and more like AMD will be my pick even if i have to switch monitor as well. Might even be able to fit in a 6700k as well which would be sweet for some crossfire action.

It either can't clock that high or AMD are being conservative with power and we could overclock it nicely. I'm sure the first 14nM cards out the gates could and would hit 1400+ if they wanted it though.

Just wish we would get some solid info from AMD, i know NDA is 29th but the waiting is bad enough without the ludicrous pricing from Nvidia making us all wish AMD would drop the Mic on them.

Conservative, mentioned before but they are aiming for a certain price/perf/efficiency. Although they could end up with a boost like that on the part. We just have to see with all the 'Shots fired' twitter comments etc from the Macau event.

Do you really think AMD have any choice in the matter when they've made their distribution 100% dependent on external retailers?

Lets be honest, if these cards are any good they will be gouged to death. Don't think you'll be getting close to 980 performance for £150. Not going to happen.
