Radeon VII

Go Lisa! She has done very well for AMD :)

Looking forward to Zen 2 and Arcturus. I think with those two there is a high probability I will end up with a all AMD system. Pairing that together with a 4K OLED 120Hz VRR HDR TV will be gaming nirvana :D

That might explain why from "No Vega 20 for consumers" to having Radeon VII.

I love his excuse for 2070 not being nowhere near 30% better than the 1080. 'Nvidia like to overstate their product' - but by 30% I think not.

When he gets things wrong 'because you can't comprehend'.

It just looks completely blagged, which must mean Navi rumours to be blagged to if they've come from him.

Oh the excuses gets better 'most people, including those in marketing at Nvidia don't know GPU Codenames from 10 years ago'

Oh and the memory is a 'marketing decision'. Not something limited by the chip.

This is his job, lying to people about what he reckons might happen with GPUs and CPUs and when he gets it wrong he needs to create a 34 minute explanation video

LOL at his source calling him 'from a withheld number' to tell him about Radeon 7 beforehand. You might have thought he might have leaked it, if it was actually true.

And the best yet 'my sources are risking their jobs because they want to see me succeed'.

So true, if on release it had held this price point it would have swept up but it hit its real price point to late.
I would have had a vega64 or 56 tbh instead of this 1060 but prices were just too much for the Amd cards ( end part of the mining craze ). It might be worth me getting a Freesync monitor now though that I can use with my 1060 for now.

$699 converts to £543 but that is before VAT is added. So at MSRP Vega VII should be £650 but lets see what the usual retailer mark up is.

The cheapest 2080 here on OCUK is £650 but my worry is that 2080s are very locked down for overclocking with the Nvidia forced voltage lock. I'm seeing typically between 3% - 10% and that is old Fury X type overclocks and it was slated for being a poor overclocker.

At least Vega has the option of proper voltage control to maximise overclocking potential. I have seen some utter gash reviews from what I can only call moron reviewers overclocking Vega by pushing the core clocks up, or adding +50% to power limit while ignoring the voltage or even the VRAM clocks.

didn't Gibbo already say its going to be £649?

Just wait on launch day til we see the usual excuses trotted out when its more expensive than it should be. Pretty much always the way, lack of supply, brexit, pound vs dollar bla bla. The majority of gpu launches these days go that way and its getting to the point where it's become a joke and not much more than an exercise in retailers tacking whatever they feel like onto the card. Just look at the 2080ti, £300+ markup in some cases.

I can see it shifting at £650 especially coming with three top games, thing about AMD cards is they are not locked down overclocking wise like Nvidia so AMD enthusiasts get to have some fun outside of gaming. Good luck to AMD, I hope they sell all they can make.

Yeah, there's always some excuse. This will be no different. Retailers telling us they're only making 5p on a card, then when it suits, like Black Friday, suddenly there's £100 off, they must think we were born yesterday.
