Hey guys,

Im having an issue trying to set up Raid 0.

I have two exact matching 250GB Seagate Barracuda 7200 Rpm,Sata2 drives. and the motherboard i have is a Gigabyte P55 US3L.

Ive followed exactly the instruction in the Motherboards Manual on how to Set up Raid..

1)Connect both drives to GSATA2_0 & GSATA2_1 ports on the mobo (Done)
2)Go into Bios...do the following...
  • Enable Onboard SATA/IDE Device (Done)
  • Set Onboard SATA/IDE Ctrl Mode to RAID/IDE (Done)

3)Save changes and exit Bios (Done)

But this is where im stuck after this,It says in the manual after the above to then restart the pc...and press CTRL+G to get the "Raid Setup Utility" but the problem is im hitting CTRL+G and nothings happening...its just booting into windows via my SSD.

Appreciate any help guys,First time setting up Raid! :D

Drives definately connected to the GSATA ports?

They're the 2 white ones at the bottom of the motherboartd.

Hi,

Yes they were connected to the white ones,I reset my BIOS...re-done the above steps and now its showing...created Raid and everythings set up nicely,Ive just re-installed windows fresh as it was due soon anyway but il post back with a before Raid and after Raid 0 comparison.

RAID 0 is an improvement over the single drive but I would have expected a bigger improvement.

It's probably the GSATA RAID controller which isn't as good as Intel's controller.

Unfortunately your motherboard doesn't support RAID on the Intel SATA ports.

Yeah i dont think its a bad improvement i mean the one drive is over 2 years old now,Not sure how old the other drive is as i brought it used off Fleebay.

I wonder why Gigabyte did not use an Intel controller on this board?
