@tamzzy My BLS8G4D32AESBK 32GB kit turned up today, up and running @3400 on second boot no issues. What have you got your running at if you've had the time to play?

I did try 3600MHz but it didn't boot so I just put it back to 3400MHz, also 3200MHz @ CL15 didn't boot either. I want to try for 3600 again, I'll be happy for that, but I think I will either have to slacken some timings or up the voltage which is a bit odd on my motherboard(GB x370 G5).

mine is sat on the desk currently. i've only bought the ram as prices are likely to go up when it's time to upgrade. so can't really say how it'll do

you'll probably need to bump voltages up a tad.

Overclocking characteristics are:
  • Apparently no CB/CBB
  • Scales with voltage
  • Very temperature sensitive
  • At least the low bins seem to need high tRCD
A couple of different r/overclocking users have reported 3600 14-20-16 1.45V on AMD using the 3000 15-16-16 sticks. This is really interesting because it suggests a reasonable amount of variation if the lower-end sticks need tRCD 20 for 3600 whereas higher-end sticks can do 3600+ at tRCD 18.

I've read a comment on another forum stating that this person has theirs running 3600mhz with stock timings of CL16 and voltage at 1.35V.

I don't know if that is too high a voltage or what. I've never tweaked RAM in my life.

1.35v is stock voltage. overclocking is very variable. YMMV.

1.45v is a safe soft-max voltage. 1.5v is the max - but i suggest not to go anywhere near that, at least not for daily usage.
can try 1.38v, then 1.4v and see what you get. for daily use, i'd probably stick closer to 1.4v than 1.45v tbh.

I did get it to 3600 but with 1.4V and 1.1V SoC, I also had to loosen some of the timings so all in all it wasn't worth it. It also produced errors in Testmem5 so I think it was on the limit, both the ram and my abilities to tweak, so I wound it back down to 3466 @ CL15 17 17 54 - that'll be enough for me.

I think for dual ranked RAM it's not a bad result considering it's on a X370 with a 1700 non X, so the IMC isn't the best, I'll take another look when I upgrade the processor to something newer cheers! :)

also want to bump up the soc voltage too...aids with stability. max is 1.1v
I've a lot to learn.

Ah, the person I noted the settings from was on a 3600 chip. Good going for a 1700.
