Random 3D printing chatter

Love my garolite (G10) bed and hate the super tack cool plate by Bambu. Interesting to know a different make might be better.
Be careful with print by object. Not a bad thing but you may find yourself reticent to print by-layer again when it sometimes/often makes no difference. Could be worth drying your PETG or tuning your retraction settings (or temp) to see if you can eliminate the stringing I'm guessing you're avoiding. Change of filament brand could be worth a try too. Had some Eryone PETG-CF that was a right pain to print as it would ooze and string. Could get functional prints out of it if I jumped through enough hoops. Switched to PETG-GF and it's just so easy to print, it's great. Found Bambu's PETG-GF better than Eryone's - so a brand change could be worth a try.

About 6 months into having my Centuri Carbon 1.
Mostly happy with it, but had to change the USB cable to the print head as the original had cracked and prints were stopping with errors, one of them a 6 hour print that failed with about 10 layers to go :(

Use Elegoo and Deeplee PLA & PETG filaments, always good.

Recently bought a Cyrogrip Pro Frostbite Panda build plate, wish I bought one sooner, prints (esp PETG) release very easily.

Also doing print by object a lot more, prints take longer and can’t do as many on a plate but find the overall finish is a lot better.
Did you get the free replacement cable from support? Luckily mines not failed yet and ive put a strain relief thing on it but i submitted the request form months ago and not had anything back.

I think it should be other way around.. Multiple objects at the same time gives you more time to cool. What issues did that resolved for you?

No, I used an Acer 240w one from Amazon.

I was printing wheels in PETG for a childs toy, when printing in layers the wheels game out very rough

Looks like Elegoo might actually release a multi-colour add-on for the Centuri Carbon 1

This link was working yesterday https://uk.elegoo.com/products/canvas-for-centauri-carbon but it's now just re-directing to the home page.
I'm still undeceided if I'll get one, will have to see what the model/poop ratio is with it.

I know you can minimise poop by print design and orientation but I ones like this is silly.

Found my old raspberry Pi 3 and installed Octoprint, what an upgrade. No more hauling a micro SD card out to the garage and I just need to find my old action cam and I can monitor prints too.

I have a Prusa MK3S and use Octoprint. Thinking of buying the new Bambu X2D - can I use Octoprint with the X2D?

I might be wrong as I'm still very much a 3d printing newbie (had my Bambu P2S less than a month), but I don't think the newer Bambu printers are very well supported under Octoprint (as in functionality is very limited).

That being said, I can't personally see what Octoprint would offer over using Bambu Studio?

Octoprint is a total game-changer. Wouldn't do without it.
My second-hand Sovol SV06 has been surprisingly solid, easily the best £90 I’ve spent in a while. The only thing that lets it down a bit is the lack of basic niceties, but OctoPrint fixes that, and it only took about 10 minutes to set up. I was considering switching to Klipper, but I think I’ll stick with this setup for now.

I don't think you're wrong. It's been a while since I used Octoprint but I remember it having basically a serial connection to the 3D printer's controller board. Bambu does all of the functionality that Octoprint does, in house. It's kind of not optional that you use their ecosystem and they don't really go out of their way to be open. That said, if you put the printer (at least with an X1C) in LAN-Only mode you can prevent it from interacting with Bambu's cloud stuff. And if you put it in Developer mode, you can access it with MQTT. I run mine on an isolated network with no access to the internet (because I'm paranoid), repeat the MDNS packets across VLANs and then manage it with Home Assistant which communicates with it via MQTT.
I think it does also do some form of FTP for sending GCode to it but that's not something I've had cause to use as I slice in Orca and send directly (bind with IP address and pin code)

I have an ancient Ender 3 pro (albeit modified) and a Raspberry Pi3b.
Still running on Marvin. I keep seeing positive views on Klipper but I'm not sure I can be bothered with messing with it since the printer works just fine currently. Slow, but fine ;)

I ended up sticking an SKRMini board in my Ender 3, that, Klipper (Pad7) and ABL made a world of difference.
