Random 3D printing chatter

Wouldn't affect my choice - as a current Bambu owner, I'd happily buy another. The "lockdown" is personally irrelevant to me when Bambu's software does what I need, and I don't agree with the Ethos of a lot of companies e.g. Microsoft, but ultimately the products that these "bad" companies produce often do a better job.

Each to their own. I guess you'd probably also not buy a Tesla?
At least they dont have a markeshare on 3d printing and there are choices.

Love the feature where when it bursts into flames the doors are locked so you can't get out. And passersby can't open the doors because they're flush.

Brilliant
Yup. I am also a Big huge fan of the bloke who runs Tesla. Such a great Role model . Would love to get a selfie and a autograph of him

Ah the classic, my mates brothers uncles cousin said something so it must be true mentality.

You do realise the flush handles don’t electronically present and they are still manually opened on a Tesla right? This is unlike other brands which need to electronically present before they can be pulled.

Most premium and above cars have electronically actuated door locks these days and have done for years. This isn’t anything unique to any brand. Ironically, a Tesla has manually operated door releases on each door which can’t be said for other brands.

I diddnt know it was that cheap the bambo. i think i was refering to the model above that which is unfair i guess. not bad price. Still is it worth it? even if they were same price, is the ethos and the lockdown of there software worth considering over cenaur carbon 2?
I’ve had a Bambu P1S with AMS for about a year now. It’s a superb printer especially if you just wish to print things. I’m aware that Bambu have annoyed users over the past few years but that’s not stopped me printing what I want.

This basically.

Ironically for the mass market, what Bambu has done is actually what those users need.

I have a Creality K2 Combo, I'm surprised there isn't more folks in here with one of the K2 series, I've been impressed by mine so far. Cost wise it's on a par with Elgoo and Bambu, the recent app updates and firmware have added to the experience too.

Just looked at the Creality K2 Series and they look to be almost comparable to Bambu's range and like you say comparable on price.
The only omission I could see is that Creality's CFS can't dry filament unlike the Bambu AMS. Not necessarily a deal breaker, but does mean that you need a separate drier.

My CFS unit sits on top of the printers and with the little heat transferred and the silica compartments (large sachets also supplied as standard) it runs high 20s to low 30s in humidity and temperature which for most filaments, is perfectly fine.
Should your house/workshop be prone to high humidity, the silica bags can be oven dried too from time to time if you want to.
The standard availability to hook up four CFS units with the 4way changer on the back of the printer is a handy free feature that you have to pay for with other brands.lnot that I use it as I only have the one CFS unit as 4 colours/spools is plenty for me.

Oh, I didn't know about that, that could be cool. It says it's for the Bambu Lab AMS (Gen 1), does that mean the AMS 1 as opposed to the AMS 2, or are there different generations of AMS 1?

While I'm not a fan of the Bambu Labs practices I think I joined 3D Printing late enough that I don't know what we could do before Bambu Labs started doing some of the stuff that annoyed everyone.
But as far as the ethics of the company, well, I've bought stuff from Nvidia, AMD, Intel, Microsoft, Apple, Samsung, Google, Amazon, Meta, etc., so it seems a bit late for me to get too outraged when a big company acts a bit rubbish.
