Random Fact!

Did these stairs at the weekend and almost died, im so unfit

OT : If you put a pot of blood in a maze and release a leach, it will eventually find the blood. Liquidize that leach and feed it to other leaches, they can find the blood in the same maze almost instantly, due to chemical memory

Quoted from Ricky Gervais

Nice fact, but Ricky Gervais also said the Daddy Long Legs (Cranefly) has the most potent venom of any animal but no way to administer it, which i'm afraid to say is a load of twaddle :(

Just read the whole post since I posted my last comment quickly...

1. Is this by Human, or by other Howler Monkeys?

2. Any source on this? :-o

3. Fact: I only just realized both posts I'm quoting are by Fishfingers :p

1. This is done by scientific equipment scanning all frequencies, the human ear wouldn't be reliable enough.

2. China has over 300m English speakers including learners, USA has over 250m,it was on QI so inscrutable in its factness :)

The seconds hand of a clock with low battery will always get stuck in the last 30 seconds of the minute usually around the 45 second mark due to gravity.

The Mariana Trench is 36,201 feet deep at it's deepest point, known as the 'Challenger Deep'.

The pressure at this depth is 1100 times that at the surface.

Random Facts please!

##Spiral Staircases in the UK always spiral upwards to the right (clockwise).

Originates from the days of defending castles from an attack. Attackers would be forced to use their left hand for their sword when ascending the stairs, whilst defenders would have full use of their right hand to swing downwards with.

Possibly true with all countries, however i'm not qualified to suggest it as a fact.

btw mine goes anti clockwise.

The five interlocking Olympic rings are black, blue, red, white and yellow because at least one of these colors appears on every national flag.

Err, are you sure about that random fact? I reckon there is a green ring in there although you are correct if you include the white background. :)

Random fact: Poison arrow frogs as a grouping covers anywhere in the region of 170 separate species and they don't create the poisons for which they are named themselves but instead concoct them from chemicals in their prey.

Ducks can't walk backwards.

You can use this fact to catch a duck by digging a downward sloping trench which is just wide enough for a duck to walk into, and leaving bread at the bottom. The duck walks down to eat the bread, and is then stuck at the bottom. :)

Fact: The asteroid Cruithne's aphelion is 1.51 AU and its perihelion is 0.484 AU

The last time someone went to the bottom of it was in 1960 in the Bathyscaphe Trieste designed by the Swiss scientist Auguste Piccard . On January 23, 1960, Trieste reached the ocean floor in the Challenger Deep (the deepest southern part of the Mariana Trench), carrying Jacques Piccard (son of Auguste) and Lieutenant Don Walsh.

Cool fact for Trekkies - ever the explorer!
