Water towers...what are they for.....anyone?

They are there so your toilets can flush by gravity instead of a pump system in your home

Partly true, what they are really used for is to put pressure into the water system in general so they do not need to worry about pumps

Most toilets use a gravity flush, from a cistern. The water towers are sometimes used to provide the pressure to get the water out of the tap/feeder pipe in the first place, and to feed taps which are not on the ground floor/fill up loft cold water storage systems.

Or were you simply being sarcastic? One can never tell!

Only the pumps that do the sewage :(

Saying that, we live in flats and have a water pump...

A group of ladybirds are called a loveliness of ladybirds.

TTC is a commonly used abbreviation of the term "Time To ****" within the computer games industry to describe the length of time a computer game, released with the ability for the user to generate their own content, will take to create a phallic symbol.

Cows cannot walk down stairs (which can be a problem if your Mrs is due back soon)

The acid in a vulture’s stomach can dissolve metal.

The bible is the most stolen book.

you're standing on a planet that's evolving
And reolving at nine thousand miles an hour.
It's orbiting at nineteen miles a second, so it's reckoned,
The sun that is the source of all our power.
Now the sun, and you and me, and all the stars that we can see,
Are moving at a million miles a day,
In the outer spiral arm, at fourteen thousand miles an hour,
Of a galaxy we call the Milky Way.

:)

There's more...

Our galaxy itself contains a hundred million stars;
It's a hundred thousand light-years side to side;
It bulges in the middle sixteen thousand light-years thick,
But out by us it's just three thousand light-years wide.
We're thirty thousand light-years from Galactic Central Point,
We go 'round every two hundred million years;
And our galaxy itself is one of millions of billions
In this amazing and expanding universe.

Remember,

When you're feeling very small and insecure,
How amazingly unlikely is your birth;
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere out in space,
'Cause there's * all down here on Earth!

The Galaxy Song by Monty Python.....:D

well, number 2 would only require each object to be moving just a touch over 1/2 the speed of light for them to be moving away from each other at over the speed of light ;)

but number 1... i wouldn't have thought were true

Someone hasn't been doing his special relativity homework! If 2 objects were moving away from a stationary point midway between them at 0.6c their relative speeds to each other would NOT be 1.2c

And for light curving it does it all the time, every time it passes by an edge it diffracts slightly.
