Random Student Loan Purchases Thread.

They have a London allowance, but the same thing happens in the world of work. It'd be ridiculously costly to start working out the average cost for each uni, or whatever, so they just have to have a blanket amount, for pragmatic reasons.

How much is your rent, and where do you go to university?

Not really, plenty of organisations (and the government to some extent) rank the most expensive areas of the country to live in based on average rents/house prices.

I presume it's not twelve month, then...

I think it's a legitimate side to the discussion - you've asked what people are spending their spare student loan on, others are saying they don't have spare money for x, y and z reasons .

Yeah, but it's not the point of my thread :) the thread title was: "Random Student Loan Purchases Thread", not "Discussion on if our student loans are fair thread". Again, I'm honestly not having a go, I'm just more interested in what random things people buy :)

Agreed.

I'm glad I managed to get a £1000 overdraft. I will probably blow a bit of it on games and CDs. :o Once you start collecting, it's impossible to stop!

There's nothing more annoying than when my mates blow their student loans on **** they don't need and then complain that they're broke throughout the following weeks.

Not suggesting that any of you are like this. Sounds like a lot of you are genuinely struggling to meet your rent which sucks.

Yes I have. However this term I have an excess of cash, and I do actually need this mixing desk as I have a set at Proud2 in the O2 arena coming up, and I can't do that on a laptop.

To be honest it's sort of an investment, It may help your music career and you could earn some money at the same time.

Or as flibbage0 said, make an investment (which this is) into making more money in the future. If I do this right at the O2, I'll be DJing at least once a week at my student union club, paid, not to mention the possibility of DJing at bigger clubs in the future :)

First year, i built a PC and left it on my desk (no case), purely for experimental overclocking.....it blew up :p (PSU)
Some KEF subs to strip down and make my own using the cones.....they're still under my bed!!
ProJect turntable, i use it quite a lot and it isnt broken ;)

Second year, GTX560ti (with money left over from 1st year).
and not mutch else really, mum got made redundant during 1st year, and my step dad moved in, so that was large(ish) earning year, and they have baby twins. So no help from parents, and a stupid low loan this year :(

Yeah the 800s went up in price! I had the djm600 cheap as my mate was selling his.

I really can't remember what I paid for the 800s. I think I paid something like 800 or 850 for the pair. When pioneer were making them left right and centre.

I sold the setup a year ago :( hardest thing I had to do as I promised myself I would never sell. However it got to stage where I Hardly used them. And I needed funds to put towards a new car.

It's certainly more interesting to the other tat that's going on in the thread really, shame the OP throws a hissy fit any time I see his posts.

I don't have spare money for anything; I'm in London and my loans don't cover my rent at all, not even near.

Err excuse me? I don't recall ever throwing a hissy fit :)

Considering that a fair amount of people said that I was the happiest member of these forums, I think you may have me confused with someone else :p

And I've seen other threads being closed for less thread diversion, so I wasn't throwing a hissy I was just trying to keep it on topic :)

Sure, if you say so ;).

It's a pretty pointless thread anyway if you want to keep it to no discussion of anything else revolving around Students & money/loans.

It may as well just go into the purchase thread for the month, as it'll be exactly the same sort of posts. It's not discussing anything different to that thread if you just want to talk about purchases.
