Range Rover Evoque

So what if it is? My car is just a tarted up 1.4 Megane Dynamique, does me alright, as I'm sure the Evoque will to many people.

but the range rover badge has history etc (i cant think of the right words), as has been said, it would be diluting the brand

with your megane, its not being rebadged to try and make it somethign its not, its still a renault megane. there is a big difference between a humble freelander and a rangerover... i suppose thats marketing to allow more people access to mini-celeb with tints status

Counter point: Who uses a Range Rover off road except Land Rover themselves? I've only ever seen one Sport and one L322 off road, so the fact that the 2wd Evoque can't go off road isn't really diluting the brand surely?

This is why I'm glad its branded a Range Rover, as that brand stands for luxury refinement and comfort (Tata is trying to separate the two brands subtly), if it was branded a Land Rover then I'd agree with you, because the Evoque doesn't fit with the utilitarian brand image

I just don't think it's diluting the brand at all, you could argue the same point that they have done that already with the RR Sport and the Freelander.

Cars like this are also simply necessary nowadays to ensure company survival with ever tightening emissions regulations and market trends, so I'm just glad they're making something like this which is still a high quality, premium, desirable product. They're not doing what Aston are doing with the Cygnet and getting something like a Dacia Duster and sprucing up the interior etc.

branding wise its a fantastic idea. loads of people aspire to a range rover, in some wierd way they are cool, by making a smaller cheaper version of it more people will jump at the chance, but theyre jumping on a band wagon that is no longer as elite and full of noddy drivers and bad image. that plus the garish looks i personally cant see the appeal

im sure itll sell just fine.

Hai. Can you spec me a car that looks like im driving Arnie's face?

Arnie.jpg

Without trying I just spec'd one to £47k  Red with contrasting black roof with part red part black leather interior

The options aren't helpful if you're trying to ruin the car though :p Where is my green paint, purple roof and tan leather? :p
