What ???

I was trying to ask a question as to how best to pay for a £65k car, not how to finance a renault clio whilst earning £9k a year.

It seems impossible to find a forum where you can ask such questions without being trolled by jealousy. Can someone recommend me one ? I read DM's thread about his bentley where he had nothing but good feedback and praise. I guess its because I am new ?

Get a grip crass my arse, its relevant.

My thoughts exactly, he was asking a perfectly relevant financial question as to which way works best for him because he doesn't know that much about financing a car, more than fair enough.

I think that the reason some people got their backs up is because you bring things like who you get your suits by (Paul Smith is a strange choice by the way) into it all. You were trying to make a point that the image matters but ended up coming across like you were trying to brag (whether you were or you weren't).

I just have a problem with your choice of horology :p (at least partly because I think that I would make better choices but don't have the cash to fill my dream watch box).
I dont understand why the word "blinged" entered the conversation. Mine is a 6239 which isnt bling at all.

I paid £40k for it 5 years ago and the first link I see on google is this
http://www.armourwinston.co.uk/rolex-6239-paul-newman-exotic-dial-daytona.html

Which leads me to believe that I made a great investment ?

And how is that bling, where are the so called diamonds ?

Okay fair point, I had worked on the basis that you bought something new and encrusted and horrible.

I really dont like the Cayenne, which is a real shame really. I drove a few friends, insane power, the only thing i can think of that had its pace was the 2009 RS6. But it looks like its on stilts to me and like its going to fall over, and tbh, I would rather buy a GT3 if i was going to buy a porsche!

they probably had them on the high rise setting, just shove it on the loading level and leave it there, can't think of many 4x4's that go lower :)

Well wise up who gives a **** if its old or new, its whos got the most that counts.
Nobody gives a **** until the person with money starts acting like a ****. Look at david attenborough and wayne rooney. Wayne rooney definetly has more money, but most of the general public think he's vulgar and crass, wheras I've never met anyone with a bad word to say about david attenborough. Once you reach the level where you can buy whatever you want, I don't think the amount of money matters anymore, more your character and attitude. Anyway, this discussion is probably for a different thread.

Listen i think the mans alright, i cant put a sentence together either, anyway **** it back to a RR sport, i wouldnt bother to map it, they go very well.

Most random comparison I have ever heard :D

Thats the sort of car you give to your wife or daughter if they are doing well at university.

I'm willing to put on a dress if you're feeling generous! :o

Edit - just having a look around and I didn't realise just how small they are.

I do like a good backpedal.

The latest shape Cayenne have for gone the off road ability in favour of making a 4X4 that handles better than 99% of cars, they are phenomenal to drive especially the turbo.

That's what I thought :) The Cayenne is definitely the better handling car. But a proper Rangie isn't about handling, its about wafting about in supreme comfort high above the riff raff, and there I personally think it beats the Cayenne.

I put the shape Cayenne like my wifes, say a 2008 car above a RR off road, and for towing.

I can't directly compare them (the only time I've been in a Cayenne was a current gen Turbo around Monza  :D ) so I'm going of a magazine review where they (Autocar maybe?) compared all of the posh 4x4s to find the best and the Rangie came out on top, the Cayenne was a close second. However what I can say from experience is that a real Rangie beats a Sport hands down off-road, but neither are exactly a Defender....

Fair enough, each to their own :) When I drove a RR sport for a couple of weeks, I was extremely impressed, and they definetly do go very well. I wouldn't buy one myself, but I can definitely see the appeal.

It was all I could come up with at the time :p

I don't know much about tuning the 3.0, but the lag you were talking about was probably the 2.7 model. That, unlike its Jaguar counterpart, was only a single turbo whereas the new 3.0's are all twin turbos.

The 2.7 used to chip quite well, there was lots of demand for it because the D3 was SOOOOO heavy.

RS6 too old?

On a building site the ground clearance will be more important than the four wheel drive so long as you're not driving like a prat :)

I would certainly go for a proper Range Rover over a sport. It will do what you want better in pretty much every single respect. It's better off road for those situations where you NEED a 4x4. It has more class (imo at least). And they are a better investment.

If you turn up in a proper high spec RR most people will think more of you than if you turned up in a Sport tbh
