That's a poor excuse, i doubt it's a common issue and i thought ddos was commonly done the normal way mostly, so what's the difference, if someone can do it they will whether capchas are there or not?

My thoughts too, other day I spent 60 seconds trying to figure out what it was :\To stop bots analysing the images. The op image is pretty much impossible for a bot to analyse. However there are much better techniques than that.
Ocuk was taken out by huge amounts of searches a while ago. It's much more effective than a normal ddos attack and can be done with less rescources. For a normal ddos attack you'd need thousands of computers.
