That's a poor excuse, i doubt it's a common issue and i thought ddos was commonly done the normal way mostly, so what's the difference, if someone can do it they will whether capchas are there or not?

Ocuk was taken out by huge amounts of searches a while ago. It's much more effective than a normal ddos attack and can be done with less rescources. For a normal ddos attack you'd need thousands of computers, whereas searches put much more stress on the server than simply requesting a page, so are preferable.

Well i just hope this isn't a real trend and they only have them where really needed and leave things like forum searches timed limit per search.
