Finally had time to unbox all the bits I ordered to get xbmc in the bedroom. Had a few problems getting it to boot openelec from a sd/USB configuration but after a few attempts setting it up it booted. Everyone seemed to complain about the menu speed but I'm surprised after overclocking and using a USB stick how fast it is. Got lots of tinkering to get all the features I want that are on my htpc but so far so good.

For anyone thinking about buying one it's a great little bit of kit If set up properly.

Well I connected my wireless adapter as it wasn't working with RaspBMC for some reason and I set it so that OpenELEC boots up only if there is a wireless connection, low and behold I no longer have any networking issues. I might reinstall RaspBMC to see if I can set it up the same way.

I just bought one off Amazon. Model B+ with the 4 USB ports and 512MB RAM for £25.

Hasn't arrived yet, but I'm really looking forward to it. Bought a little case for it and I've got a spare 32GB Micro-SD card (got an SD adapter too, don't worry xD).

Not sure what I'm going to do with it at the moment. I'm thinking of either installing retroPi or using it as a HTPC, not sure. If anyone has any ideas, please, let me know :)

RetroPie is great but fiddly to get controllers working, I actually found that easier on an older release. I'm trying to get some time to get to grips with controller setups.

Model B+ don't need SD Adapters, they have microSD socket :-)

Yeah, I notice when I opened it today. I was kinda like "but I spent 15 minutes running around the house trying to find an SD adapter :("

I've got OpenELEC running on it at the moment. Very impressed with it. I'm sure I'll find some more interesting uses for it in the up and coming weeks :)

I was bored so I put together a raspberry pi netbook!!
(excuse the shoddy camera work/quality, the screen actually is pretty good but too bright for my naff phone camera to focus properly on)

My job for the weekend is to setup the RPi at the gf's place with an 4TB eHDD, and get rsync to work from the XPenology at my parents house. And then have XBMC on top of that. Rsync should only run from 1am to 7am to copy any new files over so it should keep the CPU demand low.

Really want to find a reason to put one of these together but I just can't really find one.

My main PC is in the front room hooked up to the TV and our laptop is used for portable/bedroom TV duties plus music.

Late to the pi party but just ordered the B+.
Looking to use it for xbmc in the kitchen as well as learn some Linux/Python to add to my CV.

Thinking of doing a dual boot with openelec and retro pi for some retro gaming.
Have a 16gb microsd I used for my phone.not the fastest but it will do.

Right, got Openelec set up and connected via a cable next to my with the intention of moving it as a media player on the TV downstairs.

However, I need it to read shared files on the Windows 7 machine upstairs that I store all my movies/music on etc but I can't figure out how to do it?

Any noob guides out there to explain this?
