My Pi has died on me, its saying it cant mount such and such and to run fsck i think. I've tried and failed i've also re-partitioned both the USB and SD card again and copied the backup files i had on my laptop back on the SD card to no avail.

Can the first model (with Ethernet) be used to crunch data for cancer research UK?

If not how about the pi2??

Tried using SDFormatter to wipe the SD clean?

No but the Pi showed openelec Image and then produced another fault which looked like it was saying the USB (STORAGE) after I removed all portions in the SD card and reparationed it. Is there a way I can restore my settings if I wipe it all clean to make it work?

All I have is a folder of all the SD card files backed up

im going to buy a Rasberry Pi 2 Model B tomorrow.

Going to get a pi2 / case/ mem card.

is there anything else i need?

For an "all I'll need" purchase I went with this one...

I was going to get CPC's cheapest bundle, or ModMyPi's but neither had stock when I wanted to order (I bought it at £50 not £45).

It depends what you want to do with it though too, I didn't need any peripherals because I am using it as a media box so just nabbed the PC's stuff for 5 mins, now it's controlled via my phone.

You may want network lead, wifi dongle, hdmi lead etc. etc.

I'd certainly suggest getting a half decent power supply though, I tried running mine from the TV's USB port but whilst it fired up and ran I don't think it was providing enough power.

I guess my audio issue I mentioned before could be down to the PiHut power supply...hmmm...
