Argh!! I've just about had it with my EDIMAX EW-7811UN wifi adapter! I can't seem to rid it of the in-built power management that seems to turn it off after about 5mins!

Can anyone help? I'm using OpenELEC and found lots of instructions for removing the setting in the driver. Added this line to 8192cu.conf:

options 8192cu rtw_power_mgnt=0 rtw_enusbss=0
Doesn't seem to help though

I've just been having another look and for other distros they seem to suggest blacklisting the kernel's inbuilt drivers

Any ideas? I'm so close to buying random £3 adapters off eBay and see if I get lucky!! Knowing my luck I'll get one with the same chipset though..

Hi all,

Can anyone confirm if I can set-up a VPN from a Pi running openelec, so that it connects to a Windows VM which I have in another building (via a WAN link)

Initially I want it to VPN in to the Windows server (running VPN server) and access fileshares (to which I can stream media files from)

Currently I am doing this from my laptop, so I VPN in to home network, and open up the fileshares and play through VLC, ok but ideally I want to shift it to use the Pi

Guides on the web have mixed reviews.

Can anyone confirm if this works or possible to do?

Should be a new version of openelec soon as xbmc 13 just came out. Meant to be quite a few performance improvements for the Pi in it

Which remote do you have?

On my Pi, I just use CEC and Yatzee

But on my living room media pc, I use a Microsoft Media Centre remote, these seems to be really rare now. Has the extra power button which you can use to power on/off the TV along with TV volume buttons

Microsoft RC6 Model 1039 (It also works on the Xbox36o)

I also can use CEC, but the Microsoft remote gives you more control and functionality and considering it only cost £2 for the IR to get it working on the Pi it was a no brainer :-)

Anyone use PseudoTV and running XBMC 13.The thread on xbmc forums seems to suggest the development version is needed. I just seem to get depenencies not met errors when installing

Any ideas why my Yatse isn't working anymore. The ip is the same all the selected tabs are right Ie zero conf airplay etc. I've reset my router and the ip didn't change which I found strange because it usually does and I didn't set a static ip. It's driving me nuts. The ip it says on the Pi works when I remote in on the laptop just not my phone.. Maybe it's a Yatse error or phone error who knows.

I had a problem with my port the other day when I upgraded to 13. I deleted the port, changed it, saved it, reverted it back to old port to get it working.

Does anyone use OpenElec on their Pi, with either rTorrent or Transmission? I got the rTorrent add on working fine but it seems the only way you can schedule downloads is via cron. ruTorrent schedule settings, or settings in the config file get erased by OpenElec.

Anyone know how to use cron in OO, to start/stop rTorrent? Upon googling it seems a lot of other people are trying (and failing) to get it to work on other distros..
