No didn't buy the PSU, got plenty of USB-C power plugs here, probably play with it initially but I want to see if it will do as a Media Server, I found the Pi4 just a shade too slow but I think this should be fine.
Waiting for info if it can play 1920x1080 60fps or not on youtube for example without a load of dropped frames.
+1 on the pi4 situation.

I'm wondering if I could use a Pi5 to replace my N40L as a file server. Thinking of keeping the case and drive bays from the N40L, and whacking the Pi in. I wonder how the PCIe support will work, hoping to run my TV card from it.

I used an RPi4 as a very basic NAS with a single SSD and using OpenMediaVault. The RPi4 wasn't powerful enough to manage a sustained gigabit transfer so I ended up getting a small Lenovo PC and that is much better. The average speeds are closer to gigabit and sustainable. I am pondering getting an RPi5 when readily available to see how it copes. Could be useful as a basic backup device for my Windows computer.

I think I've already seen enough from my Pi 5 to be convinced it would work fine as my Emby Server, both 1080p and 4K content seems to work like a dream streamed to my TV or other devices, although I did see a few dropped frames if I was trying to do something else on the Pi5 at the same time (file transfer mainly).

That said I could see a scenario where I have two - one dedicated to being a Media Server and one setup for more general utilities like hosting my VPN Server, maybe my Docs and Files that aren't media (very little to be fair) although I'm sure a Pi4 would be fine to do that too but would seem silly not to just pay the extra for a 5 now.

Mine was at 08:05. The email from Pi-Hut with the announcement came in at 07:03.

@jrwagh333, you got yours in even quicker, any sign of it yet?

Nothing yet. Got an email update from PiHut, just to say that they would be getting them soon.

There is priority if you had a code from something (never knew about that myself) then it's going in order of order received.
