Raymond Lin's Wedding Thread of 2010

Looks like Crips barn in the Cotsworlds?

Shooting a wedding there in September!

It is indeed !!!!

Good luck ! :)

BTW, you will NEED fast glass, there are literally like 2 windows and that glass door for light into the dining area. It was dark enough in August at 6pm....another month on, you will need fast glass unless you want to use flash.

nothing better than coming onto the photo forum to see that you have one unread post in this thread by Raymond Lin

I continue to be amazed everytime. Awesome stuff!

Thanks for the tip!

85mm 1.2L on hire it is then! with 24-70 2.8L & 70-200 2.8L

Tempted by the 200 1.8, just because! shouldn't really tho..

What i end up using the most was my 35L.

It's wide enough for the room and FAST.

57. (35L, flash fired)

See why i LOVE that 35L so much, same situation as shot No. 52, just a couple of steps back, its like a different lens !

fantastic as usual, I know you take two cameras with you to limit lens changes, but how often do you actually change lenses, or do you try and stick to just two lenses? (I'm assuming they're both primes here)

Actually, i found myself changing lens still, not because i needed to, but more because I had all my lenses working this time, venue was big, i had loads of material to shoot and wanted to cover everything and be more creative so I changed lens. I however used the 16-35 for like 1 shot, 135 only came out for speeches and the church, and a tiny bit for morning prep. The rest was 24-70, 35 and 85 this time round. Soooooo glad i had the primes with me, i was shooting f/1.6 at 1600, if i had to use a zoom in the evening, I woukd be using f/2.8, and iso 5000 odd for the same result which would be noisy even with the 5Dmkii.

Basically, that first dance shot would have not have came out the same.

No matter how good you are as a photographer, there would have been no way on earth to get the dance shot with all the disco lights in with a crop camera and a kit lens. You would have taken the same shot with a flash at full power, blowing out all the atmosphere.
