For those with an RTX card, you will need the Windows 10 October update (1809) and to get that go here

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

You will also need the latest NVidia drivers of which you can get from here.

https://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-uk

And of course you will need BF-V of which you will need to install (what I am currently doing.

Anyone like me who enjoys something a bit new and shiny, what performance are you getting? If it is low at present, I fully expect it to take time and as such, patience is a virtue (something I seriously lack lol)

Anyways, it would be helpful to us and others who maybe thinking of getting an RTX card to see what your settings are, your resolution and your system, so if you are not shy, post away.

Please leve any pedantic posting for the other BF5 thread, as I would like this one to be for RTX owners and potential owners and not a point scoring thread. I will report crap posts :)

Got to 40% downloaded and was able to play the SP game and everything fully maxed, including RT equates to about 45 fps. I am sure with some fiddling, I can get that much better and the resolution is 3440x1440, so pretty pleased with a quick play.

That is pretty reasonable for that resolution. I bet it looks sunning.

I get 45 FPS at 4K Ultra with RTX on.

Not the highest FPS ever but it looks insane. Gregster, is that with RTX on low? Apparently it gives way better performance and you can't really tell the difference.

Yer, I was impressed and was expecting a slideshow. Game is stunning to boot and once it is fully downloaded, I will have a play with settings to try and get above 60 mins.

I'm waiting for the main release then will post up opinion of RT with 2080 @ 1440P.
Hopefully DLSS is added by then too, apparently it's not there yet. Should give a bit of a boost in performance.

Just realised I didn't have the Windows 10 update yet :(

Installing that now and will report back shortly. Hopefully the new patch sorts some of the crashing issues I've been having recently, mainly at 1440p.

RTX low gives massive gains and yer, you can tell the difference. Just uploading a vid with settings fully maxed out except chromatic crap (which I turn off in all games).

Great thread, I really want it to work for you lot I hope they come up with the goods with the patches and drivers from what I have read today it does not advertise very good at the moment.

Fingers crossed I love all the bling and wanted this card but I need to proof it's good at 4k

Good luck

Doesn't look like they are using it for much more than reflections - can see little to no evidence of bounced/scattered light, caustic materials, etc.

EDIT: Bit disappointing really as you can do like 90% of the same effect with less of a performance hit for reflections using a few fake techniques.

So I watched some comparison videos........I literally cannot tell the difference in the image!! lol ummmm, well, oh dear, a hell of a performance hit for - no reason :D:eek:.

It doesn't seem to be being used for anything other than reflections and most of the videos so far do a poor job of showing that off even - if you are actually playing in single player the effect in puddles and windows, etc. will be a bit more noticeable but totally not worth the performance hit if they aren't using it more widely for lighting.

Performance is a lot better with Low reflection in RT but not sure it is still worth the performance hit and add in the fact that even with RT off, performance isn't great in DX12 thus far.

DX11 gives me amazing performance and like others have said, RT isn't doing that much to be worth it, especially in the parts I have played so far but I really hope they get to grips with it and DX12 gives much better performance, as well as RT. Needs patching me thinks but early days and I won't be giving up on it.
