RDNA 3 rumours Q3/4 2022

If they get +50% performance per watt, (as they told their investors) they should do well. (Unless they massively cut TDP's)

For VR, I prefer the frame timing of my 6800XT over my 3080Ti, but the 3080Ti has just enough grunt to run my sims at night with lowered settings and the 6800XT can't quite do it.

The 6800XT basically "feels" better in VR up to the point where it can't hold 90fps, then it's pretty bad. (I think Nvidia's reprojection works better so the 3080Ti remains playable when it starts to struggle)

Another 50% (for either card) should give me the grunt to run at night. If RDNA3 maintains the same solid frame pacing, and the price is good, AMD could get another sale from me.

RDNA 3 is looking efficient. it only has 2x 8 pin power cables indicating TDP between 300 and 350, probably closer to 350w given the size of the amd triple fan cooler has increased (the heatsink is larger)

It's interesting that amd has reworked the memory configuration, they've lowered L3 gamecache size compared to what rdna2 has and it's probably because they are getting extra bandwidth from faster vram modules

Was there even a fram rate counter? The CPU reveal was pretty good overall but this GPU teaser was weak.
Nope, the only useful thing I can gleam from the short video is that AMD has once again managed to beat their 50% performance per Watt target.

I guess someone could create a chart to show how the new cards could stack up compared to the old ones.

I really hate that....

Here is 10 seconds footage of the new GPU running a game, there you go you've seen it.....

Really?
it is for the financial analysts to see they have working silicon.

the 50% performance uplift confirms the rumours that these cards are going to be epic (as are the nvidia ones).

The power consumption of the 6900XT in gaming is 299 watts, sourse TPU, so at the same power it would be 150% performance, with another 33% power it should be 200% of the 6900XT, 400 watts.

That performance uplift would more than cover my high-settings night-racing goal for my VR sim.

AMD has my attention, but I would have liked more details.

Given the RDNA1 launch thread, this is a ton more information than we are used to :D

Everyone was throttling each other in the RDNA1 thread, this RDNA3 thread is much more civilised.

yea could be running on an old card for all anyone knows... not like the game looks different... undoubtedly recorded footage anyway and not live

it looks like the same footage from Gamescom unless the developers made a deal with AMD, i guess most people want to know how far they have come with RT as this is AMD downfall compared to the 3080/3090.
