Can't they just increase the bus speed to say 512?.

apart from that increasing the cost of the memory module, it would also give the gpu a higher tdp so you'd need better cooling too - that's why traditionally we've seen 512bit kept for hpc cards but those have moved along to HBM2 because it's just better

What this means is that they can make a smaller die and make the card cheaper so we can maybe have a return to normal price ranges for performances.
or someone just add more price to increase margins again.

Infinity cache would likely have an improvement.
Either they run with hbm2e and some channigans.
interesting to find out what they come up with.

Several hundreds of pages of hype, followed by a paper launch?

Sign me up!

Personally many just thought rdna2 wasn't going to be good and then they did beat Nvidia.
It may seem they go for two options, one very expensive one think flagship and then a moderate upgrade from current.
they now know how to scale speed.
Looks real interesting what they will come up with for rdna3

I wouldn't say RDNA2 beat nvidia, they drew level on raster performance although they still have the inferior overall package but they missed an open goal by not being able to deliver a decent amount of stock and keep prices reasonable and when the dust settles have probably lost market share instead of gaining.

Already losing market share

The world went downhill when corona hit transport and manufacturing, substrates wafers etc..
That with the success AMD has, beating Intel and Nvidia especially with upcoming RDNA3 and the demand from gamers and also miners just shows how a market can change. without the recent pandemic and mining hype we would been able to buy cards just fine as we now can buy Ryzen cpus.
and even now the prices on Ryzen are slowly adjusting (lowering) due to demand isn't outselling shops storage.

its just the prices has gone up overall and I don't think AMD will lower them as we seen with CPUs and soon it be like that with GPUs and the RDNA3 line up.
Make no sense when your the leader to lower prices

Prices need to come down again especially in the midrange where we are now paying more for less performance than was on offer 2 years ago.

Also AMD need to win market share and mindshare as many will just buy into nvidia no matter what the performance looks like, I haven't owned Radeon card since 2006 so AMD need to tempt me with great performance and prices to match if they want me to ditch nvidia. If they are just content to price match nvidia then I and many others will just continue to buy nvidia.
