Reacher - Amazon TV series 2022

I enjoyed it. Sometimes it's nice to be able to switch off the brain and see a big dude beat up bad guys. Plot was good enough just to pull things together.

They've pretty much nailed the character but there's something a bit off about the series. It just seems to be a bit dull in places?

Maybe padded out too much?

It paces well compared to the book, remember the book was set in 1997. Things move a little slower in fictional backwater Atlanta.

I’m just happy it’s closer to the original characters and feel of the book. The films were ok in their own right I guess, but quite disappointing if you were a fan of the novels.

It's a bit pony...

Watched the first episode and spent most of it cringing. The chap is 6ft 2 so they have obviously chosen shorter people to act along side him. People just do not stop and stare at tall people any more than they do little people. Perhaps a sideways look. It felt like it was aimed at a certain audience and I don't think that is me. Perhaps it is for women/gay men?

I’m enjoying it as I get the exact same vibe from this as I got from the books. Reacher randomly finds himself or someone he meets in the brown/smelly against insurmountable odds and then sets about surmounting said odds in the most bloody way possible.

4 broken noses out of 5 from me.

Sounds like it’s not for you mate.

This is sounding like its just Hawk from titans still going around beating up bad guys, will binge it.

Watched the first episode last night. I think they nailed the character, which for me is the most important thing. The books are very formulaic and so the TV show will be much the same, which is fine by me.

Watched the whole thing now and loved it. Much more enjoyable than both the Tom Cruise films. The fight scenes are pretty cool. The main actor is like a beast. Storyline is ok although the 2 bad guys are really obvious early on and I'm sure have played dodgy characters in other shows which didn't help. Lana Lang appearing in it was a weird surprise and she's barely aged a day from her SmallVille days!

Would definitely watch a season 2, although I guess the cast for this will be different each season as he needs to find a new town where the while police force hasn't been decimated!

The only issue I have is that he’s portrayed as being perfect, he outsmarts / overpowers / openly mocks everyone like a smart arse and never at any point seems to be challenged. Makes for a pretty dull watch.

That is pretty much the formula, for better or worse.

I think it won't necessarily translate well to multiple seasons but I'm happy to be proved wrong.

I know nothing of the books and tbh I can't even remember the TC films (although I'm sure I've seen them) but I really enjoyed this. As others have said, for me the pace was just right, not too much action, some fun deducing and great fights.

I thought it a bit odd the scrawny cousin effectively got the better of Reacher, it was only him managing to grab the gun that saved him.

the man he bumps into look awful lot like "lee child"

I didn't catch what the guy said to him either?

the single tear after he leaves his mother in Paris looked just as bad.

Yeah, that was pretty bad CGI...
