Reading/Leeds Festival

I had a fantastic weekend, I saw a lot of bands I'd never even heard of before who were great, and also Franz Ferdinand, Muse and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs on the main stage.

Muse and Franz put on a hell of a show

Anyone see Metric?

The Klaxsons were the highlight of my weekend. I had my horn, my glowsticks and the face paint. The fact that I was off my face also helped.

Simply manic.

Met klaxons thursday night, proper nice lads. Decent band too.

Muse were absolutely stunning, all seemed a bit surreal. I only went for the saturday, started off watching aiden just for the crack in the morning, ended up at the bar because the lead singer annoyed me too much. DPT, arctics, futureheads, cribs all fairly decent sets aswell. Wish I went for the weekend though.

The kooks set ******** me off, all these idiots forcing there way into the tent when there was clearly no room, I almost punched someone in the face becasue he thought it was funny to just run at the crowd and smash his way in hurting my g/f

Oh dear god i absolutely hate people like that. Sure everyone wants to get the front and i dont mind people politely (well as much as possible when your nose is in their armpit :p) squeezing past. But running at people, elbowing you out of the way or just shoving you is SO ANNOYING. You shoulda smacked him one :(

Sorry but i'd disagree with Franz Ferdinand. They write catchy songs but i've seen them live on TV a number of times and each and every time they've been absolutely dreadful. I saw them play Take Me Out on the BBC last night and it was terrible. You could barely recognise the tune, not to mention their horrible indie-type shouting down the words instead of actually singing. Although i'm sure it's a lot better when you're there in the moment -- but i REALLY dont know what anyone sees in them. Headlining? :(

Anyone see Animal Collective?

Some guy asked to buy ecstacy off me but used the chemical name  I thought that was a bit strange

Probably because they wanted pure MDMA, and not ectasy in terms of a pill mixed with something.

Highlight of my weeked was Feeder playing just a day. I didn't see the crowd (first barrier) go more mental all weekend :)

I saw Animal Collective.

I was a little bemused to be honest, and although I enjoyed it it wasn't really what I was expecting. It seemed like a lot of others there felt the same. Are they usually like that live? There were a few songs and a lot of ambience.

Grass was great though

god i forgot the klaxons where there , im regretting selling my ticket more and more and more everytime i check this thread :(

where the presets there with em ? they where awesome when i seen em before too.

I had an awesome time at Reading, first festival, and would gladly go again tomorrow, though glad to be showered and clean now :)

Few incidents we had, my mate lost 3 tickets, so he had to fork out nearly £450 for replacements, so he made it clear he was going to get his £600 worth of Reading :)

Friday, was really impressed with Kaiser Chiefs, wasn't expecting much, but they were great. Yeah Yeah Yeahs were amazing I thought, Franz Ferdinander were good, but got a little boring towards the end, the set was a little too long for me I think.

Saturday, thought Wolfmother were really good, Futureheads were great, then got a little (far too) drunk, to the point I was just shouting noises instead of singing words for Arctic Monkeys, and don't actually remember much of the Arctic Monkeys or Muse, but from what I do remember, Arctic Monkeys were okay, but Muse were amazing.

Sunday, GLC were okay, Kooks were very very good, Rakes, really enjoyed, not heard much from them though, but Maximo Park topped my Reading, they were simply outstanding to me personally.

If any of you were wandering around on Sunday, and you noticed a group of 4 people walking around in white suits covered in glow stick liquid glowing in the night, I was one of the people just following and watching them, but part of the group non-theless.

Also, I'm pretty sure we started off everybody shouting "Dan!" around the campsite, from the classic Alan Partridge episode, we certainly heard a few other people shouting and talking about it over the weekend, so we were happy :)

Though I didn't see it, it was a little harsh for the Panic! and the Disco singer getting hit by a bottle at the start of their opening song.

Yeah. I think it's amazing that a band like that can get bottled but the Streets and some of the other cretins they book get away scot-free :(

A band like what?
Rubbish fallout boy tribute act that have a drummer that can't even do his own fills?
And a set that needed 2 (poor) covers?

At least the streets are something different (I don't like them btw).

Franz was amazing, but then I like a show, I like crowd banter. If bands just play there songs you might as well just listen to there CD at home. I've seen placebo before which where good, but this year I thought they where crap. They just played there set.

As for crowd surfing and crushing it's a festival, it's what happens. If you can't cope with it don't go near the front. There was one idiot protecting his girlfriend, if if you bumped into her he threw a wobbley. It's like go to the back then you idiot.
