Really Angry :@

Hmm, create a new partition on the hard drive with a linux disk. a lot of the distros boot from usb and have partition programs with them. The install fresh to the new partition and you can get what you need and delete the spare partition later. Quick fix if you really dont have time to fix it properly

I'm just waiting now until Monday until i can get a OS Disk of my Mate from College... I'm sure that will do the trick...

Thanks guys... Happy New Year :)

Who cares just send it back it's not like you loose money (fair enough postage) just let the people who know best sort it out! Sometimes it's just too much hassle!

yeah plus if the mb is fine once they test it costs you 21 quid, installing an os takes 40 mins tops, I run about 3 installs a month its not hard :(

Yes and no luck....

And i have not reinstalled an OS, surely it should just boot up the OS without me having to do a fresh install?

No, not if the disk controller is different to the previous motherboard. Windows uses the disk controller as a security check, and if its changed it will just reboot.

The problem is compounded if you have the old motherboard set to IDE Compatible sata, and the new motherboard set to AHCI for example.

If you wanted to use AHCI on the new board, then you would need to have installed the correct drivers for the new boards AHCI before you changed the motherboard.
