Have you tried rtx or dlss

As someone else posted I did not get a 2080 for rtx. I also waited until the price came down to a reasonable £630 level. I don't find it overpriced. I think I paid £500 for my last card a 1080gtx. I managed to get a good price for the 1080 so the price to ugrade was neither here nor there. I look at rtx as a nice bonus as well as the 2 free games. To me control is a game changer with rtx and I am pleased to be able to sample it today rather than having to wait another 9 months etc. I would however not pay £1200 for a decent 2080ti. That's taking the Michael

DLSS has blurring issues and has already been superseded by image sharpening tools and RTX is currently available in <10 games and massively impacts performance to the point that without DLSS performance is worse than the previous generation.

It looks good and I have said that several times, though in tech demos in particular it can be overdone to the point of ridiculousness. It is the future but this generation just can't do it justice.

wrong - on control it works brilliantly - i would also argue that control with RTX enabled is a night and day difference.

Never seen this. Does it work on any graphics card?

Would this work better than the upscaling windows/monitor does? When I tried that many years ago there was a big difference in quality compared to running on a monitor that has the native resolution in question.

Seriously though I am genuinely happy with the 2080 I bought. It will see me through probably to the 4000 series cards. Its good to see that my thread has at least generated some debate

live is very short people - if you have sufficient disposable income and you feel that the price of an item is justified then you should feel no guilt in buying it. I have reached a point in my life (47) where i have a good job and i am lucky in that i have a decent disposable income left over once my bills are paid. Now i could go and spend that going to the pub every weekend but i feel thats a waste of money. Others however may take that option and thats up to them - who am i to judge.

most of us buy stuff that we dont really need. I dont necessarily need a car to get to work as i could take the bus. But wheres the fun in that. I could buy a cheap economical diesel car to get to work but again where is the fun in that. I bought a fast premium German car which was expensive (bought second hand though) but that car offers me so much fun on my commute to work that it was worth the additional expense over a cheaper more sensible vehicle. therefore the additional price on that car was worth it to me. Others would say that my choice was daft as i am paying higher repair costs, higher fuel costs than if i got a more economical vehicle. to me though its worth the expense.

Funny thing is, how can you be right about such a thing when there was hardly any games that used it in the 2 years? There was a decent list of games announced and in the end hardly any used it. But sunshine somehow thinks he was right :D
