Really getting tired of hacking now

Thank God never did FB or Twitter, even if I am secure if these big tech companies' cannot secure their servers then same end result if I was a member there.

Yep and I don't think it's the first time it's happened. There was already a database availible from 2010 with about 100 million users on it.

Now anyone can track down someone with a Facebook account in real life. This is why you shouldn't put your real details in to these sites.

I said above no FB for me in above post, I knew of the above site it is now affiliated with LastPass (AFAIK) so even easier to get notified if any leaks.

Looks like literally all of Facebook has been hacked now. Every account including phone numbers, addresses, email, DOB, etc. just posted online for anyone to download.

Facebook being quiet about it again though.

Only number, name, facebook id and general city location, dob (some) is leaked.
No Email

Around 11 million uk accounts.

It is like one big telephone directory, so expect them phishing calls if you are on it in the future.

I know perfectly well how to use a computer, I've just let my guard down a bit in recent months.

You don't. At least to an acceptable understanding of what users on a PC forum would be expected to have.

Anyway, all done and passwords changed again. Bitdefender installed, so I should be ok now hopefully

It probably goes without saying, but since you've found 1 application you don't remember using previously. Have you since formatted and reset all your passwords including BitDefenders master key?

I don’t know. They somehow installed a Remote Desktop program on my PC.

Let’s be honest, these people are far cleverer than most of us when it comes to this sort of thing.

I think you're relating your own knowledge here and assuming the majority are the same as you. Many of us here have a good understanding of these things and/or university level qualifications in IT.

A website referring to it as a hack doesn't make it a hack security is compromised in many ways and they aren't all "hacks". It's a general term media uses for shock and ignorance.

Nope, never needed one. I can sort nearly all technical issues, I’m just a bit unsure and naive around internet security.

That's the thing dude, whilst you can format a PC your understanding around basic security seems to be quite poor.

Righto, thanks for that.

I periodically export a CSV to a memory stick that lives in my desk drawer. Bitwarden does duties on my phone and desktops/laptops.

Most my passwords are generated programmatically, no hope of remember any of them!

If I exported as encypted .json then how would I decrypt it if Bitwarden was unavailable? Would it just be my master password?

Honestly don't know. Don't really feel encryption is required on a clean machine and offline copy.

Could always have malware and not know it, but isn't that always the case?
