Really getting tired of hacking now

I don’t know. They somehow installed a Remote Desktop program on my PC.

Let’s be honest, these people are far cleverer than most of us when it comes to this sort of thing.

Let's be honest you installed that program. Either unknowingly or by installing a virus that did so.

I've never been scammed or hacked. I even disable all antivirus, firewall protection, etc because I'm confident in my competent browsing capabilities.

I don't visit dumb websites and I have pihole installed to block all ads and most dodgy stuff anyway at DNS Level.

Maybe it's time you looked into a similar solution?

I don’t know you. I just know that you’ve made some very very basic computer security errors, and have done for a long long time, for which you have lost a lot of money for either yourself or other people perpetuating attacks of this nature on vulnerable people.

You come here asking for help, are given the solution multiple times over, and still have the audacity to roll your eyes and argue with people who clearly know far far better. I dislike that, and I’m posting in the same way you are, in the hopes it gets through to you.

I didn’t lose a penny overall as it was all refunded

You might not have done, hence me saying or other people. Your ignorance and incompetence has cost businesses money, and as I said, perpetuated this kind of crime as profitable.

I understand your frustration but I think you need to reel it in every so slightly, I think he kinds understands he's at fault now :p

Nope, never needed one. I can sort nearly all technical issues, I’m just a bit unsure and naive around internet security.

Fair enough.

Formatting was the right thing either way. I echo what a lot have said, change passwords for everything to something new (using a password manager if needs be) be, would go down the bank route too if you haven't already.

Then you must've clicked on a phishing email and given Windows permission, via the UAC, to install the software.

I figured you can install programs in program data without uac now...? From recollection that's where office installs from portal.office by default? For teams anyway

Edit: teams by default if installed from the website goes to here, which doesn't require UAC: %userprofile%\Appdata\Local\Microsoft\Teams

All passwords have been changed to unique ones, and stored in the Bitdefender wallet, and I have had a new debit card issued.

I might also make more use of the Monzo virtual card option whereby you can just generate a new card whenever you want

Cool.

Silly question but I'm guessing any memorable words, etc etc have also been changed.

It's not just resetting new passwords though. They will have everything about you, you'll be at serious risk of them using your information for social engineering hacks or worse involving your identity down the line.
