Rebel Moon | Netflix

Reviews aren't looking like it's an improvement. Some say it hasn't improved, while others say it's got even worse. There's more blood, some full nudity sex, and nothing that improves the flaws that run through it like the writing on a stick of rock. I haven't found anywhere that is saying it's got better, although I'm sure there will be some who think so.

I won't be bothering with it.

Watched the first part - I thought it was okay. Not the best SCi-fi ever but watchable. No idea if it improves over the original cut as I didnt bother to watch them.

Rather too many shots of space craft landing and taking of throughout and also once you have seen one head get blown off you have seen em all - but still have to sit through another 100 or so in this version.

Otherwise fairly enjoyable.

While the Director's Cuts might be better, I'm not sure if I can be bothered with them. Should have just released these versions in the first place.

I started to watch Part 1, first attempt I made it to 50min, 2nd attempt continued where I left off, I had to stop at 2hr mark. Still over an hour to go.

It should be an easy watch with a simple plot an action but somehow it is very taxing on the brain!

I went through a marathon of both parts in 2 days and i enjoyed it the second time around a few things made a bit more sense. Still overall it was alright but not exactly one of best i seen. Just the same with more sex, gore and violence. the ending was a bit weak but i guess its now open for Chapter 3.

I got 20 minutes into part 1 of the directors cut and went to sleep.

It wasn't what I was expecting. Just seemed like nudity and violence.

Not sure if it gets better. But if that's all it is, I won't bother

To add
I thought the acting was poor, almost like a rehearsal of the script.
I thought the CGI wasn't great.
Its not often I get 20 mins in to something of this genre and just decide sleep is better.

Obviously can't draw too much from 20 mins. But just seemed like a teenagers cheap sex/violence/gore/sfx fest was being set up.

The director's cut is a big time investment, especially considering I've seen the theatrical version.

I actually thought it was 'Ok', just a mindless sci-fi which was a bit frustrating at times, there was the odd scene I really enjoyed, especially those that had a 40k type feel to them.

The impression I get is that the original cut was mostly edited to make the film shorter and change the age rating to make it more family friendly.

The directors cut apart from gore and sex is much darker than the original. They flesh the background more which is ok, the action scenes are a bit better. I only got through about 50% of directors cut part 1. Some of the scenes are now too long, even the back story is too long.

Ultimately it's not changed the main flaws. All a bit ham fisted.
