Rechargeable tyre inflator?

So I have a wired Ring inflator which is great but a bit of a faff having to plug it in each time.

I had been looking at the below rechargeable models but do any of you have experience with these? Are they more suited to bikes and airbeds perhaps?

Would be so much handier for topping up pressures but not much grunt otherwise I guess.

Why don't you just get something to measure tyre pressures?

A rechargeable inflator that goes flat in your boot, sounds like a terrible idea when you need it most.

Mine keeps charge for months if not a year, and I always keep a cheap wired one as well.

I don't get why you'd spend £50 on a new pump when the problem is ease of measurement which can be done by a £7 device.

Keeping charge for only months is exactly what I'd be worried about. How does it perform when it is 0 degrees outside? All lithion ion batteries go flat very quickly under cold temperatures.

I have a good tyre gauge for checking the pressures and always have done.

But when they need a top up, I had thought something cordless might be handier :)

Not had a problem with mine - I've never left it more than months between charges so can't say longer than that. Kept its charge fine with the recent cold.

When you need something in an emergency having cordless is actually quite a bonus.

I’ve got one of these for measuring pressures…

Works really well but you have to press it firmly on the valve in order to not lose pressure whilst getting a reading. It may read up to 1.5 PSI over actual value.

Then I just use a Draper double barrel foot pump to pump in the air, usually only needs 5 to 10 pump’s depending on the pressure reading, if 0.5 PSI lower 5 pumps if 1.0 PSI lower 10 pumps.

I think I may go for the Ring model I linked above.

Will keep it indoors for topping up and hold on to the wired one in the boot.

It did cross my mind that the lithium-ion battery may not play well in extreme temperatures :D

Ended up buying this one. Will do rightly for topping up. I prefer the ‘trigger’ type valve attachments.

Ring have the screw type valve attachment and the air just pours out as you remove it. Never understood that!

It could well be! It’s a race to unscrew it as the air is escaping as I remove the connector.

Not sure why they went for that design. I prefer the old trigger valve connectors as I call them :D

Makes more sense why you find it a faff to use it at least, if on top of plugging it in each time it's ******* half the air back out that you've just been pumping in :p
