Recommend me a fast FPS

Any of the Quake games. Quake2 is the "slowest" but probably the best, IMO. Problem is, there aren't many people playing Quake nowadays and (as mentioned) the learning curve is harsh. But for pure skill based on reflexes, accuracy and anticipation, Quake games are top of the pile by far. People who can't stand the pace end up playing CS, BF or UT ( JOKE  :) )
I don't think Quake 2 is that slow, I think it's actually quite fast, although granted I still play Capture The Flag (q2), games can literally be 10-9 in 20 minutes, captures can be as fast as 10 seconds (as was the case in the recent cup we had).

Quake 3 while it's fast from a killing someone 1v1 perspective, I actually find it slower in teamplay terms and not a fast action pased games in terms of what's actually happening overall.

I'd say Quake 2, but you'd be very hard pushed to find any servers to play online unfortunatlety these days :( But there's still loads of Quake 3 servers, so I'd say grab Quake 3 and download Threewave, and play some CTFS :D

Compared to Quakeworld, Q2 is very very slow. I know what you mean about Q3 tp being a relatively slow pace, but in QW it is just insane. A typical 20min 4v4 TDM match will have around 250-450 frags depending on map and what happens. Timing is very crucial in the modern game and the game can turn on tiny things like turning up 1 second to late to collect an item, missing a jump when quadrunning or not reacting to team messages quick enough when backpacks are dropped.

CTF may be a different matter of course but in general the physics in Q2 (and to a lesser extent Q3) are too restrictive for the kind of realtime expansive tactics you get in QW. Q2/Q3 tdm matches tend to be a bit more 'strategic' - much like Quake was for the first few years to be fair until bunnyhopping became completely widespread.
