Half Life 2 Deathmatch definately - can't get any faster than that.

There are quite a few good maps out there atm for HL2 DM. Not played it in a while but fired it up last week. Good fun.

Quake 3 & 4 and Unreal 2004 are as good as fast paced shooter as you can get. Jedi Knight:Jedi Outcast is also quite good considering it's age and it has a bit of vareity in the force powers and Lightsabre comob's

F.E.A.R. Multiplayer would be my final one to fast paced shooters.

Day of Defeat Source is a very fast paced game.

I recommend it but you may get put of a lot at the beginning because you will get killed....a lot!

The trick with it is to not be afraid of dieing, the more you rush out and fight the more you will learn and the more Kills you will get.

Been playing DOD since the early Beta Days, Awesome game.

Thats Quake III Arena right? I found 6 odd different versions and I have no idea which one lol :)

Yes Quake 3 Arena. Not Team Fortress or rocket arena etc, but Quake 3 Arena. You'd be able to pick it up off ebay for a few quid. Still looks good today, but the maps are not massive, very intense and fast as **** though, got me into online gaming way back in the day.

People saying '1.32' in relation to quake 3 are refering to a point release, basically a patch released by ID to change minor things in the game. There were about 6 point releases released in quake 3's lifetime, and if your game is patched to 1.32 it will be able to access servers running Q3 1.32. Different servers run different point releases, so if your running Q3 1.32 you can't access a servers running Q3 1.31, but you can get a niffty little program thats lets you change the points release very easily, as long as they are all installed on you PC.

Hope that helps.

CSS - TURBO GUNGAME - DEATHMATCH is manic and great fun! :D

My Xfire in sig

Would be definitely up for a OcUK Q3 night :)

quake, quake, and some more quake.. UT is slow in comparison, which makes pretty much every other FPS slow in comparison..

The physics on the quake series allow for unbelievable speed... (strafe jumping) and that then leads into all manner of trick jumping using weapons like the rocket launcher, grenade launcher, plasma gun and nail gun... If this interests you, go get q3 and the mod 'DeFRaG' it's trick jumping mod with a pretty hefty community, i still play it to this day and hold a few world records in some levels :D

Quake 3 has no single player as such, just loads of dm levels with bots, quake 4 has a pretty good single player which i feel carries on nicely from quake 2, and i would reccomend quake 4 if you want some misssions to go through. I, and many others, had loads of problems with quake 3 working online, quake 4 just seems to work constantly, so another plus point for quake 4 there...

Go get quake 4, come and play with us every night :D

If you like WWII games and fast-paced action then give Return to Castle Wolfenstein Multiplayer a go, it has quake style strafe jumping as well and none of this one shot one kill rubbish that reduces most players to camping bores!!

Used to play this game 6 hours a day at uni for around 3 years. Sounds sad to admit it, but i miss those days :(

Did win quite a bit of £££ from playing it though ;)

Winning ££ is always good :D :D Only ever won £30 playing moh, won a FFA tourny by 40 odd kills lol.

Wolfenstein is quite old now though I beleive and I don't know how the online community compares with other things such as quake/moh/hl2 dm/painkiller etc.

i was a bit mad into my q3... have won a couple of grand over the years, nothing serious though (the most i took home in 1 sitting was £400) didn't have the time really..

Oh yeah, if you get quake 4, make sure you patch it, as unpatched, it is not that fast paced... the 1st patch made the physics a lot more like quake 3, although crouch sliding is added in q4 ;)
