That's not trance! I know he's regarded as the god-father of that genre, but barely anything he's released is trance (that i'd consider anyway). Flaming June is, as is Godspeed, but not much else is.
Some of these tracks overlap genres - it is generally considered vocal trance/house and the album is classified as "Electronica, trance, progressive trance, drum and bass, breakbeat".
He was quite good from his early days to around mid 2000's
I think part of the problem is many of these DJs/artist have been churning out rubbish or generic tracks now a lot longer than the era when they were at their peak and/or considered gods especially younger people will have much more of an impression of them based on more recent times - especially when they are trying to stay relevant against some of the up and coming producers who are more of a hit with the younger crowd despite not really being that talented.
