Recommend me some trance?

I'm not too sure what controls my subjectivity, but usually I find if a track doesn't remind me of an older track, then I am more inclined to like it. Can't say the main riff of Language reminds me of anything, and I kinda like the vocal bit.

But then I'm finding the current releases from Mat Zo and Arty completely uninspiring, whilst other people go mad for them.

Looks like Zo's remix of Live Forever is going to be his best work for me.

Seriously, compare this:

To this:

Bleurgh!

Neither of those are in the same league as this imo

Just found a channel of Boom Festival 2012 (Festival was two weeks ago) videos filmed with a go pro camera, thought you might want to check it out. Rather than making a thread thought id just post in here. Boom festival is the largest psytrance festival there is, 40000 people this year apparently, it is held in portugal every two years since the 90s.

This is how the main dance floor opened, five day festival.

I always get tortured that trance os rubbish, boring ect. I explain that they obviously are not listening to what the genre is called, and thats trance, to put you in a state of tranquallity. Found a few good quotes on the subject

"For some reason, some people tend to be very negative about trance in particular. I think "trance" as a genre has been declared "dead" by these people and the press for the 6th time now. And yet, it remains to be the most popular genre in dance music. In fact, in my experience, trance has never been bigger as it is right now! Maybe this is because several people have very different definitions of the genre "trance". Some people consider "trance" to be similar to "commercial" or "cheese". For me trance is the only genre that isn't a prisoner of it's own style. People that like real trance, are very open minded to all kinds of dance music. For example, I play a lot of records that are labelled "progressive" or "techno" in my recordstore. Trance to me is a journey through different kinds of dance music, not the formularic crap some call "trance". Trance is part of modern day music now. Face it." - Armin Van Buuren

"It's about music! Not one music style is better than the other, not one music style is more truly than the other. The whole thing is based on respect. It's all about respect, respect to the music, respect to the DJ's, respect to the crowd and respect to each other. It's all music, music never separates people!" - Carl Cox

Dont really follow this thread but occasionally blast a bit of trance, was listening to armins asot and this came on, works brill i think!

It's a radio rip as not released or anything:

I used be a big trance head years ago and this just sounded pretty euphoric like the olden days, when the piano drops it's goosebumps time, need a good copy of it!

Airwave - Dark Lines is a masterpiece of an album. 'Cathedrals of Hope' is my favourite, proper progressive trance! Depends what you're into though, it ain't for trouse lovers!

If you like old trance, checkout Oliver Lieb's Cream Reunion set on soundcloud. Amazing from start to finish, and hard to believe some of the tracks are as old as 1994. Timeless!

LSG - Hearts & Ambassador - The Fade (Oliver Lieb remix) are my favourites, the latter of which was clearly copied by John O'Callaghan for Stresstest!
