Recommendation for usbc nvme enclosure

what read/write speed to you get on yours, do you remember?
I didn't but I found the post with the details....

The nice thing is that it will sustain that throughput, it just doesn't slow down. The cheaper enclosures gave me around 950 Mbps transfer which didn't sustain.

I have no idea if technology has come on since then, I think that nvme will go faster if it's mounted internally and there may be faster enclosures available now.

I’ve seen photos for the OWC doing 3100, so 10% faster but it’s also £120…

I paid £119.99 for the Acasis, it was about 14 months ago.

I found it for about £55 online (not UK though). The OWC I can only get it in the UK which is £112. So it's half the price, but for the Acasis I will get a couple of those heatsink and stick it on the bottom like you which will make it to about £70 total.

I think, I'm going to get the Acacias one and put the heatsink on too. It will end up being my main working drive so I want to keep it cool.

Lots of hit and miss reviews for other enclosures that the thermal pads don't touch the enclosure well and as a result the nvme gets stupid hot. I can blame @Feek if this one doesn't work well :p

I'm not taking it apart to check because it's all cable tied together but I seem to remember it came with two sets of thermal pads, of different thicknesses and I ended up stacking them to get the full thickness.

I didn't use any pads between the heatsink and the case.

I've ordered now, So I'll be coming with my pitchfork if it's no good :D

I'm pretty sure I've ordered the same or very similar heat sink that you have so I'll be planning on doing exactly the same with cable ties and sticking it under the desk. I think I saw in a review somewhere about different thickness pads so that sounds about right.

feek, any idea if that enclosure would be able to accomadate the heatsink on a 980 pro?

You could always run it with the lid open but put one of those heatsink I linked to directly on the SSD.
Well that's the thing, it comes with a heatsink already installed and it's going nowhere soon - I had originally bought it to go into my newphew's playstation 5, but he beat me to it, and now i'm in receipt of 1 perfectly good nvme with a heatsink I cannot get off. lol

Hi, I just ordered myself a base model M4 Mac Mini. All I need now is an external nvme drive. Can anyone recommend me a decent enclosure please that I can leave permanently plugged into one of the usbc ports. Thanks.
Considering doing the same thing.

With a base spec of 16gigs of RAM, Mac Mini M4 is actually very tempting.

Going to tell my mom to get one too if her Windows PC falls over.

Edit: There are a few USB Type C NVMe enclosures on discount for early black friday deals which would do in a pinch.
