*** Red Alert 3 ***

Bored after Soviet Mission 2. Went straight back to RA2 greatness. To be honest, i havent given it enough time but i would rather play RA2 at the moment and GTA IV. Maybe in a few months.

I do like it but its just boring. I havent played Mutliplayer yet which i'm sure will be awesome.

Completed this a couple of days ago.

It's keeping perfectly with the RA series in my honest opinion. I don't think the series is meant to take it's self seriously, and yes, the cut scenes aer over-acted, but it's fairly obvious that's h ow they are meant ot be done. You get a nice (if somewhat unrelaistic... as it's supposed to be) story line, with a fair few laughs, the end of the allied missions fmv's made me lol. Oh, and the ladies, another must =) (still can't beat Jennifer Morrison from cnc3 though...)

I feel the game play is more balanced than a lot of other RTS games, especially straight off the shelf, where as most RTS games need multiple patches to get a nice ballance (ok, it's not perfect, but it's still one of thest off-the-shelf balances i've ever seen) The secondary abilities of each unit is a great addition to the genre, and allows for some fantastic micro-management opportunities.

coop campaign mode is a great idea, and can't wait to sink my teeth into it with a mate.

red alert 3 = most stupid RTS ever!

id say this is for kids around 8-12 years old and should be played on a console.

playing supreme commander a lot, and the difference between them is einstein, and a complete retard

It's dumbed down for a reason. I personally adore the CNC universe (dodgy b-grade acting, skantily clad women, metal-esque musical score, etc) and think RA3 despite it's shortcomings is a worthy installment to the series.

If you don't like RA3, fair enough though. :)

just because it looks 'childish' with the graphics etc there is still quite a lot of indepth micromanagement to this game.

Spot on.

I myself will always pick supreme commander over any other RTS, but i've been the biggest total annihilation fan for as long as i can remember, and these 2 games just don't really compare. OK, y es, they are both RTS games, but are still both great for different reasons.

Somewhat surprised there's not been a post on this for more than a week, as it's a recent AAA title (reptuation wise at least!).

So far I'm caught in two minds as to whether I like the game. First impressions weren't good, the graphics are cartoony and it can be quite hard to distinguish structures, often I have to click on them to find out what they are. I do like the fact you get allied support in the campaign though, makes things a little more interesting. The tutorials I also thought were done very well.

Currently stuck on this airbase mission in Iceland, my original base has been wiped out and I've just built up in the remains of the purple guy in the bottom right. Problem is the allies have a lot of air power and keep wrecking my base with that photon cannon thing, so I can't build up enough cash to build a decent assault force before it strikes again. Looked into some possibilities like an aerial attack and sending in Natasha but they have too much rapid response air defence which cuts me down sharpish. First time I've had such a problem in the game really, in that I'm totally pinned down firefighting and can't haul in the credits fast enough before their superweapon recharges.

Annoying to see it is locked at 30fps like C&C3, I guess it must use the same engine.

I've only been playing Skirmish and LAN (well, LAN via VPN to another PC :)) games so not done the campaigns yet.

Has anyone come across any custom maps yet? (not including those EA extra ones)

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse...

HASSLEHOFF FOR PRESIDENT!!! :D

I too like the dumbing down that is Red Alert 3 - its the only time I disengage the brain for a game. Compared with Supreme Commander its just a cartoon, but that game is quite immense and has much more depth. Can't wait to play on LAN soon (once I get my new monitor). Despite its obvious flaws I still enjoy playing it. Just have Empire Of The Rising Bun campaigns to do...

I have been playing this a lot recently, and I have to say I really like it. I'd say it is better than RA2 and I really enjoyed that game. EA have done a good job, it is fun, fairly well balanced so far and it has a lot of depth. You can play it basically, or you can be quite strategic in what you do.

After a long slog of a skirmish game, it was down to just me and the brutal AI. Things were going quite well until I saw this inbound :(

Took out half my base (even with anti air ships, rocket men, etc), which was finished off by a tank rush :(

By the time I had finished playing this game my toes had curled around into my feet. I couldn't believe the amount of cheese! The gameplay is good fun though.
