Red Bull to quit F1?

Same happened here with the Button/Magnussen thing. People were claiming that McLaren were committing commercial suicide by annoying their UK fans, when in reality they couldn't care less about what we think.

I wonder what Red Bulls primary target markets are?

Of course it's not illegal for the Toro Rossos to block competitors. Red Bull were cheating because Toro Rossos specifically did not block Red Bulls while racing with everyone else.

And yes, it is the only reason Vettel won two of his titles, because had Toro Rossos been racing him instead of letting him past he would have certainly lost enough points in both 2010 and 2012 to hand those titles to Alonso.

You didn't answer my last question.

I liked red bull in the early days when they were the plucky team with DC. The superman Monaco was great, I wish DC had worn a superman fire suit for the race too. And Horner jumping into the pool with just a superman Cape on.mit was fun then.

Then they became another corporate machine and I was like mehhh you're annoying me now lol

It'd only suck if they left and they were replaced by an awful buyer/it all fell apart and we got another also ran. I'd guess it's more likely we'd get a Renault team, or an Audi team, though.

A VAG team will never happen, that's been a dead end rumour for decades.

Renault are likely to buy Toro Rosso if they do buy anyone, which will just cement their deteriorating relationship with Red Bull. Theres not been any rumours about who might buy RBR, probably because they aren't serious, but I think your fears may be right, it's likely to be a corporation looking for a quick win and we will just end up with another... well.... Jaguar.

I do think that the ex Ferrari guy who's name I forget has, at least for part of his role, been briefed to look at the feasibility and cost increases involved in an Audi pitch at F1 and I wouldn't be surprised if they've at least done some computer modelling of the V6 Hybrid to get an idea of costs etc. An actual entry though? Won't believe a thing anyone says until I see their name on the official FIA entry list with two drivers.

Stefano Domenicali.

Renault buying Toro Rosso would leave Red Bull in a mess, I can't see it happening unless Red Bull have a strong engine supplier lined up, unless they're desparate to sell up.

Can't see Red Bull using any of the other engine suppliers if they want to be a top team again either.

Would be a good opportunity for Audi to come in as engine supplier to a proven top team though (possibly leading to a full team in the future), I see that as the ideal outcome with Renault buying Toro Rosso

Do you think any other engine manufacturers are thinking of joining with a single team given how well it's gone for Honda?

Think we'll need to wait until the end of the season. Not one to usually side with Mclaren but nobody enters a complex formula expecting success in the first season let alone after one race. By the time we reach midway point who knows what position Honda will be in.

.

Not sure it can be classified as a rumour as the VAG board admitted in the last year that they were looking into an F1 entry.... but its not going to happen until Bernie leaves / dies as some of the VAG board absolutely detest him

It is highly amusing watching RBR throw their toys out of the pram - as stated above, what short memories that lot have.

Without paying a huge amount of $$$$ (which I doubt will ever happen) they cant leave before 2020 anyway so its something about nothing really.

Would like to see Torro Rosso taken over as a completely separate factory setup anyway, if this spat hastens that then all the better

I'd like to see Renault back as a works team too - RBR are getting far too arrogant for their own good. I seem to recall reading most of their engine problems were because they were forced onto Renault pre-season for untested 'upgrades' which weren't tried and tested. Foot, self and shoot spring to mind.

The relationship with Renault is dead. Sides are accusing each other of lying and all sorts.

It's not looking good for that team.
I wonder what Renault are contractually obliged to go/give to RBR in terms of engine development? Could they favour Toro Rosso and give them the new developments first or perhaps just not develop the engine this season at all to torpedo RBR? :D

Don't Renault also hate the fact that RBR took all the glory when winning the titles despite the fact that Renault worked very hard to help develop the engine to work in a way that Vettel loved so much.
