Red Dead Redemption 2

I spent a few hours with both m&kb and controller at the beginning. I found the horse riding better on controller but couldn't live with the aim assist, particularly the camera snapping to the left or right to lock on to an enemy when I was on horse back. Settled on m&kb and completed two consecutive playthroughs this way. I never seen any bugs throughout my 2 playthroughs that I can recall either. My only disappointment was Arthur's refusal to accept the services of the working girls but I get that it would have been out of character for him.

The small details in this game are astoundingly well crafted and good. Rockstar are legends at this. This game is like taking part in a TV series.

The GTA world of storytelling has proven it can almost be blended into an open world ish Far Cry or Assassins Creed, etc type world and game with a continuing storyline threading along side its varying encounters, side quests etc.

Imagine the Red Dead world story told from the perspective of a Sioux Native growing up and experiencing these new paleface whitemen coming onto your lands...

It takes a huge amount of work and effort in story and dialogue and voice acting etc to put this kind of game together. But Rockstar are the best in the world at this stuff.

OMFGGGGG fired up this game yesterday, played the intro and I cannot believe how friggen AMAZING the graphics are. I have everything completely maxed out at 4k and it just looks jaw dropping. Using a PS5 controller for now and will see how I get on with it.

Between this game, modded Witcher 3 and Skyrim I am going to be in gaming nirvana for some months. :D

Wait till you try the Reshade mods( There's one with no performance hit ), and Fast Horse Travel! Amazing game!

Agreed. I fired it up and ran the benchmark to see what the performance was like on my new card. To my delight I found that I can play it at ultrawide 4K at 60+ FPS and it really does like quite special!

The world in this game is astoundingly good. The weather, the wildlife, the environment. I recommend to explore and wander around in chapter 2 and not be too hasty to move the story along.

The game really should be a Netflix series.

Have you watched Deadwood? If not, do it. :)

I loved the detail of the gameworld but the characters and story were utterly atrocious and totally unlikeable. I remember getting to a point where I had gained reputation among the locals, doing helpful decent things. Then I was told to meet Dutch in a bar and all hell breaks lose and I'm shooting the good guys but want to shoot Dutch in the face. Same thing happened earlier when you can't progress the story without freeing one of your gang, who happens to be a total *******.

Why do Rockstar always make games where you are a complete ****? I did just try to go out on my own away from the gang of totally deplorable people you call "friends". Thankfully Rockstar did at least give some freedom in that regard. Just stay away from the main camp and don't do any of their missions and it's a great world to explore.

Quick question, if you buy ready-made outfits in the store can you change colours etc. of particular items? Or do you just get the whole outfit as-is?

Also, I was watching some videos and saw some clips of people being in fist fights but executing people John Wick style. How do you do that? It'd be like smacking them to the floor with the butt of a rifle then shooting them in the head. Or I even saw one where he punched a guy, put him in a stranglehold and then shot him with his pistol. Looked way cool  :p

How do you do that on PC?

You cant change colours of clothes but you can mix and match. Buying an outfit is like buying a bundle. Im sure all the outfit clothes are sold separately too.

How the hell do you run this game at 4096x2160 I can't see the option, running at 3840x2160 you get black borders each side, LGCX is my panel.

Not sure why you'd get black borders but 3840x2160 is the native resolution of the panel isn't it? If you've got Windows set to 4096x2160 maybe that's causing the issues.

The native resolution of the LG CX panels is 3840x2160, not 4096x2160. I found this out after troubleshooting a few games whilst hooked up to my CX recently. If I remember correctly, RDR2 will only go with what the panel is outputting as it's native resolution. Try and change the native windows res in nvidia control panel, that might work.

Yeah i tried and it's just the same, full screen on in RDR2 and res at 3840x2160 still get black bars on the sides, i mean it's not the end of the world and still playable but it annoys me lol
