Red Dead Redemption 2

So far I have noted that using Vulkan and DLSS. gives me the best performance over that of using DX12. Seems to look better also, altho not spent much time with DX12.
Using a 3070 and 1440p.

Tried nearly every settings so is it a game thin while your riding a horse and running that foliage etc blurs with poor definition even with motion blur off. 6800XT checked the AMD settings to make sure it was not overriding it. Tried the sharpening trick at 27 and the resolution scale at 5/4 I think it is.

Sadly the curse of TAA, only way to get rid of that motion blur is to use DLSS (which you won't have since you have AMD card) or another form of AA

Got this on PlayStation and I have never completed it, tried a few times but always lost interest.
Wondering if giving it ago on PC would be worth it.
3700x and GTX 1660

I had high frame rates but stuttering with both APIs until I set power options to High Performance in Windows. I've never needed to this before but I think it stops the CPU from downclocking.

What I do note about this game is how much that it uses the CPU....

...still the get on with playing it tho, too much else to play for now.

I did suspect it was the TAA. might try turning it off and render at 4k and output at 1080p see if it that is possible.

This game needs temporal AA (either TAA or DLSS) to not look broken, because its assets and shaders were made with temporal AA in mind. You can downsample from 4K all you want but it will still look like mess without it.

For me DX is stuttery but Vulkan is smooth. I first ran the game with a FuryX, then a 5700XT and now 6900XT and it ran very well on all. Did notice a difference going from FuryX to 5700XT but that was mostly down to the extra 4GB of VRAM, not noticed any difference going from 5700XT to 6900XT but have not played it much since upgrading.

I found with DLSS on there was no difference in the image for me but the FPS bump was noticeable.

Late to the party. But what is all the hype with this game? I'm about 25% through and yes it looks stunning, even today, but I seem to spend half my time riding around on my horse

There's lots to discover, mysteries to solve, items to collect, upgrading your character/horse stats etc.

Plethora of clothes to wear as well which goes great with a 10 length beard, moustache and hair.
