Red Dead Redemption 2

I was fine at launch and now since the patches:

"Red Dead Redemption 2 exited unexpectedly".

Happens randomly and more than a few times, leading to a lot of wasted time. There's no quick save!

So in patching to fix other people's broken games, they seem to have broken mine.

I think I'll pass on this for a while now. It looks amazing, but it's a time-waster too.

I'm getting the same. Fine at launch, crash to desktop multiple time since patching. Could be coincidence, but 0 crashes the first 12hrs. 4 in the last 3hrs since patching.

Pretty much finished my tweaking.
Running at 3440 x 1440 on a gsync acer predator (hence max fps vsync'ed to 95)
On the rig in my sig

Geez took me this long to figure out how to add an image lol

Looking at all the BS going on with this game, it just reminded me why i don't pre-order, especially so called AAA titles.

Either release a working product or don't release it at all.

Its different for everyone of course, for me, I've just passed 47 hours played this week and thats been 99% online mode, have barely even started single player yet. Its easily justified the price for me so far and right now is looking like it will be my game of the year.

What is the point of online in this game?

Is it seperate to the SP part or do you need to play it to get better stuff for SP?

Thinking on getting it but not quite sure what the online part is for.

Probably a stupid question. :)

Its seperate to the SP, my friends and I are playing it online (45 hours of online so far this week :) ) as a sort of co-op "mmo" game. We're just building up the camp, teaming up to hunt, craft, fish, play poker, some RP, just a great online co-op chillout experience.

Are there missions to do and a storyline?

There are missions, not a huge amount though and there is a 12 part storyline, which is a seperate story to the one in SP, but its not as fleshed out as the single player storyline by any means.

What I would say is that its a great foundation/gameworld in which to create your own stories and events, sort of like how old AD&D pen and paper could give you a world to run campaigns in and how useful that was depending on the players. I'd say if you are someone who has the imagination and the inclination to create and breathe life and adventures of your own into the gameworld its an awesome multiplayer game but if you prefer devs to supply the content and adventures then you wont get as much out of it and probably best to stick to SP

Thanks for the reply.

I don't have any friends that play online games, so do you think i would get (is it worth) anything out of playing online, or best to stick to SP.

I appreciate that this maybe be subjective but any input welcome.

Hmm, if you're alone I'd probably say stick with SP, you could take a foray into online just to see what its like but if you are solo then you will probably find it lacking compared to SP if I am being totally honest. Might hold your interest for an hour or two as a curiousity but without others to regularly team up with and flesh it out it would likely not hold attention for long.

Can anyone answer a couple a questions?

Is it possible to use Dead Eye in 'manual' mode? At the moment when i enter dead eye it automatically tags enemies when the aiming reticle is on them with the result being that i keep shooting the same guy 3 or 4 times. It tags horses too.
Thanks

If you have a scope on your rifle, while aiming through the scope, push CAPS LOCK or Scroll Button on your mouse (both by default), to enter that slow-motion tracking/shooting stuff and since everything is moving waaay slower than normal, you can carefully aim each shot. Of course, after each bullet it will revert to normal time, but you can repeat this action as many time as you have that dead-eye meter available. From a reasonable distance you can headshot a lot of guys/animals before running out of that skill. :)

Apparently there is a glitch in the game that lets you travel to Mexico via swimming across the Rio Grande, not sure if this is also in the PC version though but if anyone gets to the epilogue they can try it

Players can reach Mexico in Red Dead Redemption 2 but this should be treated more like a glitch, something that wasn't planned by the developers. There are no "official" methods of traveling to Mexico. You will have to make a use of a few bugs found in the game. It is highly probable that this "hidden" part of the map will be playable later - in Red Dead Online mode or thanks to an expansion.
