Had this exact same issue a few years back but Rockstar CS fixed the problem ... I think it took them a few days to respond though.Recently bought this on steam, but can't play it.
Has anyone else had a problem with signing in to Rockstar? my original rockstar account is from years ago, and i used my dads email. That email is now gone. I made a new account but i can't launch to game because it says the old one is still linked to steam. ive read there customer service is terrible.
Ive just requested a refund on steam, seems easier.

My problem was I used a different email address back in 2018 to link my PSN account with Rockstar so I could play RDR2 on console ( it wasn't on PC at that point ). Rockstar CS got there in the end and got everything synced back up but it was a reminder of why I hate having separate launchers eg. Ubisoft Connect, EA Origin etc.Well thats good news, glad you got it sorted. Yeah im not sure why i used my dads email, i was going to try and link the new account but you can't do anything until you initially log in, which i can't do lol and id prefer to recover this one. I can play GTA 5 on pS5 just fine, i was hoping there would be some info on there but i couldnt find anything. Ive never liked rockstars luancher.
Ive submitted a ticket to Rockstar. Steam turned down my refund request, its been well over 2 weeks, but i haven't actually played the game for even 1 minute.
Just did it via email. Had to provide some info to confirm authenticity of email, Steam details etc. Sorry they're giving you the run around. How did you get it fixed?
They just replied, said they cannot proceed because there isn't enough information and closed the ticket! lol. great service.
Bet there isn't a phone number to ring.
I'm interested in this too, played a bit a while ago and just never got back into it.Never finished this when it came out, thinking of starting over again. Wondering if anybody has used mods, any recommendations ?

Thanks, will look into that mod !It bored me to absolute tears so i made my own fun with the bounties mod.
Just pure gameplay without all the boring stuff.
If you don't have access to the original email account then I suspect you won't get anywhere, so refund and buy a key for Rockstar directly is probably your best bet. (can get standard edition for £11, or Ultimate for £13 at the moment)
I somehow ended up with two R* accounts on different emails, so I have one with GTA4/5, and another with RDR2 (with both via steam), but haven't tried to do anything about that.
Had a similar issue years ago with EA Origin, where I logged in one day to find my security questions were in Russian.... even after sending them photos of my physical BF3 keys they said it couldn't be my account because I couldn't answer the security questions.. total BS. Boycottted them for years until my friend bought me a BF1 key for xmas, so set up a new account (and by which time they had added MFA options)
I get your frustration, but tbf, without access to the email account I can't really fault them on it... otherwise it would seem easier for someone else to hijack your accountCorrect, not interested, wont help.
They have lost any future custom from me. If i get GTA 6 i wont be paying for it put it that way.
A little late to the party, I'm presuming you no longer have access to the Rockstar account using your Dad's email address and have no means to regain access? If so have you tried contacting Steam Customer Support to see what accounts are linked to your Steam account and then ask them to disconnect/remove the linked Rockstar account?Correct, not interested, wont help.
