Red Dead Redemption Thread

Blimey, I'm getting pulled into the buzz thanks to this thread. I'm thinking of splashing out on a copy instead of renting. :D
 
Sounds so good that I can't help but feel it won't be for some reason :) My only concern is the rather less than smooth gameplay we have seen at times from the videos. You can certainly tell it's the engine used for GTA IV :)
 
The game runs in 1280 x 720 and uses 2x MSAA. Below is a supposed framebuffer capture screen - courtesy of MazingerDUDE from the NeoGAF forum.

Looks like there is little difference between the ps3 and xbox versions, so I'll probably go 360 as I prefer the controller. Going to have to get some live subs though..

After seeing some of the meltdowns on other forums it seems like there's quite a difference with the 360 version clearly on top so that's the way I'll go.

I really can't wait for this.

It's a shame the difference is so big between the 360 and PS3, it's 2010 you'd have thought they would have sorted this after GTA IV. I just saw the PS3 shots on NeoGaf and it does look jaggy, that's all you can tell from the off screen pictures though.
 
I hope this isn't true and the ps3 version as is being hinted on certain forums doesn't have any AA applied, would be a real shame.

That is what I did the first time I used them. The game arrived on the Thursday.

The next time I used them I didn't bother with special delivery and just went for standard it still arrived on Thursday.

I always buy from Game now as they seem great with the releases. I very often pre-order only a few days before release and still get the game the day before official release.
 
Think that PS3 box picture is from a few days ago in the US. Was posted on IGN to show that the PS3 version has some exclusive stuff.

Good news about the resolution and AA, on the 360 version at least.
 
There should hopefully be a comparison up of the versions on Eurogamer or somewhere around Tuesday, well before we go and get it, so we should hang on for that before speculation of PS3 vs 360 in terms of graphics.

As I said previously, I'd only get my 360 out of the loft if there was a relativey big difference :p
 
Sorry, what sort of differences are there between 360 and PS3?

no AA ? different res?


Are there screen comparisons?

Its an open world game... every open world game ends up being repetitive.

MP games are repetitive but that doesn't stop them from still being fun... right?
