Red Dead Redemption Thread

This is all tut anyway. You'd be hard pressed to spot 540p v 720p, you might pick up on the AA. But the 360 version of GTA had a crappy dither applied to the shadows which made it no better than the PS3 version IMO.

Indeed, it's not really any trouble for me to get it on either, but if you own both you might as well get the version that is superior.

Again though, given Rockstar have had problems like this before(and wont want a repeat of it), I doubt there will be a significant difference.

Games are generally easier to code for the 360, thus why it sometimes edges ahead in certain games graphically, something like the resolution isn't really a difficult issue to fix, and I would be very shocked if Rockstar messed up the game for PS3 owners that badly.

As said, everything so far is quite likely random figures plucked out of the air based on inaccurate screens from either version, wait until something more substantial comes along, we could be looking at proper reviews and comparisons tomorrow :D

Talk from those who have it already seem to say it looks better and performs better on the 360 like GTA 4 did - Sub-HD on PS3 slightly

At the moment, that is all it is, "talk".

Granted GTA was arguably worse on the PS3 (although a lot of people preferred it), it isn't proof.

The few PS3 screenshots around are a photograph of a TV, where as some of the 360 ones are direct screengrabs, quite a difference.

I want it to be good on the PS3, as I prefer it as a console, but I have a 360 for exactly this reason, so I wont be caught out by developers being lazy ;)

The PS3 box actually says it is in 720p, whether it would say that anyway is another issue, but I doubt they would be allowed to lie, or would they?

Still, I'd take what Rockstar have said it is over the word of some randomer 360 fanboys who want everything to be better :p

I don't care. I've played PC games with shoddy graphics and enjoyed them just fine... actually, buying a 5850 and playing games at max settings didn't enhance my gaming experience at all.

They won't be lying - the PS3 will be upscaling to 720p. The boxes don't state native resolutions.

Regardless, there still isn't any proof that I would consider reliable.

You've probably noticed that whenever a game is released multi-platform, people will always assume (and then spout rumours to back it up) that it will look better on the 360.

In this case, people are basing the fact it will look better on GTA IV, that is really all it is based on. It may well look better, but my point is there's no way to know, just yet :p
 
I doubt the Official Playstation Magazine would have given this game a 10/10 if the PS3 version was as shoddy as all these people seem to be saying?

Regardless, I'm going for the 360 version (along with almost every gaming contact I have). It's blatantly the way to go imo simply because of party mode, invites, and cross game chat. Sometimes in games these features aren't that important but in a game with so many mp modes and free roam it's totally vital.
