Red Dead Redemption Thread

Problematically, once your sense of curiosity at what lies over the next hill dissipates, you'll find every 10-minute gallop across the landscape tiresome and over-familiar, and so will begin to rely heavily on the game's various fast-travel options (via train, carriage or campfire teleport).

So they want a big world to roam around in but complain when you have to gallop across landscape all the time? Can't have it both ways and be a semi-realistic wild west game.

And I've read there were no real differences between 360/PS3 so I'll be sticking with my PS3 pre-order.

10/10 on Boomtown.

Never read anything there before but they are a recognised review site so that's good at least :p

Hoping Gamespot get a review up today, in my personal opinion, IGN + Gamespot give a pretty fair review, as Gamespot are harsher but not to the being attention seeking extent of Eurogamer.

That said, in recent months Gamespot have been way behind in a lot of reviews, hope it doesn't persist.

Any supermarkets doing a midnight release for silly cheap price?

Its big but you end up using fast travel once you have been to certain places.

Looking unlikely, apparently Asda are refusing to stock it. So with less competition makes it less likely Tesco etc will bother lowering it. Also it's rumoured that TakeTwo aren't playing ball with cost prices hence why Asda won't stock it so little leeway for big bargains.

Same, I never read/watched any reviews of GTA4 and MGS4 until I finished them.

I know by the looks of RDR that I'll enjoy it. I don't want to ruin my expectations of a game by reading someones elses review on it.

I wonder how that compares with the map in Far Cry 2. It's the only other game I've played where I can make a comparison as both are set in the wilds rather than urban environments.

So far the only thing I've read in these reviews that has disappointed me is the fact you can't swim apparently. Water = insta death. Not major though.

Far more than double (from the very little I played of Far Cry 2).

Are you sure, that sounds a bit off?
