Red Dead Redemption Thread

Can you actually do much with the wild horses? I've captured one, but it doesn't seem much better than the horse I had. Can I sell it in town or anything?

Nope you can't sell them, if they are worse than your current horse, kill it. It's the right thing to do.

I had a right blast on this last night. It was fun picking up the Desert Sage for the explorer challange. :D

Once I get the other places unlocked I will spend hours going round doing pointless stuff and helping strangers.

I also love using my bandana to protect my honour whilst doing bad things and taking down the law.

How do you know what kind of horse you are currently riding is? I had to laugh yesterday when my niece who's into such things saw me playing and said you've got a "blah blah". I couldn't verify if she was right.

In 12 months time if you asked me if I wanted to play GTA IV or Red Dead Redemption for 6 hours straight; I would pick GTA IV.

I'm loving RDR, but once the story is finished I think the baron landscapes will bore me very quickly. At least in GTA there is a bit more variety due to the vehicles, car chases, urban environments etc.

I agree. RDR is brilliant, however it just feels like GTAIV has more going on and more things to "improvise" with if you know what I mean. GTAIV you could set stunts up and do crazy things and spawn stuff with cheats, in RDR it seems more confined to what you can do once the game ends.

Personally I'd disagree, that's why I got so fed up with GTA 4 and the same reason a number of my friends did.

If you had been talking about the likes of San Andreas and earlier games, I could understand it. That was fun because you had things like Jetpacks and mountains with a ramp and bmx at the top of it, which you could launch off and then open a parachute. The game was over the top, but it made it really good fun. GTA 4 had an amazing looking game world, but by making it a more serious game and removing a lot of what made it wacky, it just wasn't as fun.

No you don't.

The first crime I tried to stop I hogtied him and took him to the Sheriff expecting to be able to dump him there and lock him up, but they weren't interested, so I picked him up, took him out back and shot him. :D

It's my mission tonight to get the Dastardly achievement tonight.

Unless I've become numb to violence, I can't see much in this game that would make it an 18. No sex, not a lot of bad language, not overly bloody/gory.

Haven't played for a couple of days but have I missed something?

Being run over by a train might do it.

Huh?

You have to lasso a woman, hogtie her, dump on the train track and watch the train run her over. The key part is watching it I think, you cant dump her there and go off and wait for the train to run her over. You need to witness it.
