Red dwarf coming back UKTV has commissioned 2 new series

Honestly, I consider series 3 to be the worst series overall.

WHAT? Philistine!

Backwards - absolutely brilliant episode
Marooned - second weakest of the season but still good
Polymorph - one of the best episodes ever
Bodyswap - excellent episode, some of the best one liners in there for sure!
Timeslides - another great episode, great concept and again some great writing!
The Last Day - weakest of the series but still has it's moments

For me series 2 is the weakest, apart from Queeg of course! "We're talking jape of the decade!" Classic

Missus is out tomorrow night, I feel a curry and series 3 marathon on the cards :D

I thought 3 featured by far the weakest writing of the entire show. Far too many roll-eye moments....The whole concept of Backwards, Polymorph stealing their emotions- fair enough, but they act completely wrong, it is like no thought was put in to it after the initial idea. Bodyswap is an episode I always skip. Timeslides is ok, but not a highlight. Marooned is the best as it is all about the characters, and the relationship between Rimmer and Lister.

2 is the best series for me!

Queeg
Worst episode ever that I can't even remember the name of

Marooned is one of the best episodes of Red Dwarf period! Incredible writing.

Marooned is possibly my favourite episode and seasons 1 and 2 are the best fullstop. 3 is still great, but started to pave for the way for the silly slapstick comedy that was to follow. By season 6 Red Dwarf had gone from my favourite comedy to bloody awful :/

I enjoyed all of 1-6, the earlier ones being the best. I also enjoyed the 10th season. Obviously not of the same calibre of the originals but a good return to form comapred to 7-9.
So, I look forward to the new seasons and will no doubt watch them.

Was that the canned laughter provided by the studio audience?

i suspect that canned laughter was added to the audience laughter (common on tv programs) - either that or they were given laughing gas because they were laughing at really tedious stuff.

Basically, when the writing team split up the show went crap - they should have simply stopped then.

I'll watch new episodes and then form an opinion rather than just write them off before I've seen them like some of the smeeeeeg heeeeeeads in this thread.

I think that's the right attitude :-)

For me, I liked series 1-6 and 9-10. Wasn't so keen on the series with Kristine Kochanski in the main cast (series 7 or 8?). That's because I considered Red Dwarf being the space version of "Men Behaving Badly" and I don't think Kochanski fitted in that well.

Oh, and to everyone posting in here.... you're all smeeeeee heeeeeee :p

Having read what the writing team came up with individually, it's clear the guy that left was the really talented one.

Backwards and Incompitence are both excellent comedy novels. I didn't get into Fat though.

The Last Human was... Meh.. Alright as a story goes I suppose but I don't reall it raising much of a chuckle.
