Red Dwarf XI and XII

Old ones used to be (S1-6) but 7 onwards were closed set.

Actually I`m just trying to remember which post series 6 we went to see. There was one of the later series which was done on a closed set but the episodes were then shown to an audience for the laughter track. We saw 3 episode and it was at Thames studio where they filmed TFI.

Need to check with my brother which series it was.

Update it was Series 7. Filmed on a closed set then shown infront of a live audience at Thames Studio for recording the laughter track. We saw Tikka to Ride (with the different ending not shown on TV), Duct Soup and Stoke Me a Clipper.

In fact my brother has the original Ace Rimmer ship prop from Stoke Me A Clipper. He also has an original Inquisitor gauntlet too.

Nicely said skeeter.

I still love red dwarf but what I miss is the gritty classic science fiction along with everything else that makes it great.

The stories are still science fiction adventures but they used to be more rich in its nature.

Examples being Legion, Backwards and Meltdown off the top of my head.

The more recent ones involve far more domestic situations that just happen to occur on a space ship between these guys rather than any "meaningful" science fiction.

Just checked and everything I found suggested between 1-8, only 7 was closed set. LOL, just finished reading what you put after I typed.

Got any pictures? How did he get that stuff?

I hope they bring back Talkie Toaster, cracks me up every time I see that beginning part in White Hole. "Howdy doodly do"

This, this and thrice this.

Norman Lovett was definitive for me.

I forget the episode but the one where he does the April fools joke about the money left in a savings account, leaving a light on, a rotten sandwich taking over the world to Lister was so funny.

I always love the tongue tied dance scene as well :D

Always loved RD but I can't deny how it feels like pensioners in space, it was much better when grant and naylor both produced the show also. I wished they made a bigger budget film just filled with all the best bits of it and a better written joke every minute.

I agree, they certainly have aged but still have it IMO.

Episodes with Grant and Naylor were the best.

I don't think that would work. It's been discussed every few years and aside from the cost, I don't really see what they could do.
Particularly given the bigger budget they had for the diabolical season 9 (irks me to even refer to this as a season).

Loved Tongue Tied, somewhere in the loft I've got the original VHS Music Video, CD, 7", 12" of it. I think the Music video and cd is signed by DJJ too.

We used to go to the Dimension Jump conventions and they always auctioned off props and thats how he got it.

Can't find a pic of the gauntlet I`d have to ask him but this is pretty cool too

This was my brother at DJ Convention dressed as a Bazukoid. It actually fired out the top too. He won the Fancy Dress.

Yeah I really enjoyed X. It gets constantly slated by people who refuse to acknowledgment anything after about series 4 being any good, but that's unfair. X went back to what made it great, basically 4 guys being pratts on a space ship.

Can't wait for this.

Agreed! Solid TV series imo including 8. I actually only started watching it in 1994 when they showed repeats every Friday night throughout the year. However, they did repeat from the very beginning, so did get to watch almost every episode in series 1 thru 6 in chronological order. Was aged 15 and 16 at the time. I was at uni during series 7 and 8, so I only caught up with those many years later.

QUEEG was another classic episode. You know it's Holly but the payoff is so dry that is genuinely makes me laugh out loud every time :)

Looking forward to this season. Back to Earth did nothing but tarnish an otherwise decent season tbh.

I got to meet Robert Llewellyn at last years Comic Con in Glasgow. Really nice guy. Got to chat with him briefly about the new series they had just started on at the time.

Can't wait for it! Just wish the series were longer than 6 episodes each.
