Massive fan of the originals but with these new seasons I'm just not feeling it. Watched 2 episodes of the last one and gave up.
I went to a Red Dwarf panel in Atlanta last weekend, no stars of the show, but some people clearly in the know. Two of them had seen the first 3 eps of S11 and say it's back to what made it great.
Clearly the show is better with both Grant and Naylor, I don't think I realised they both worked on S10, so I'm not sure I've even watched that. Certainly looking forward to S11 though, with what I've heard.
One of the panel also recommended the first two audio books, which I'm now listening through. Chris Barrie really is amazing. His Kryton and Holly could well be RL and NL. His Lister is pretty good too, not sure about his Cat mind you. Still, a great listen, with plenty of new stuff that wasn't on the TV.
Pls just let it die. Red Dwarf is possibly my favourite ever show. Seasons 1 & 2 are superb by any standards. And not just funny - they're like watching a well written stage play. Seasons 3 and 4 were good (although I still stand by things changing for the worse with Kryton's introduction) and, while things started to slip, 5 and 6 has some good fun episodes. Then it just slid too much. I dipped in and out with each new season but just couldn't do it and had to stop. Red Dwarf changed from a well written, clever, funny, character comedy into a purile, slapstick imitation of itself that doesn't aim beyond cheap laughs. Let it die while there's still some dignity left!
Bah humbug

Rob Grant has been away from Red Dwarf since the end of Series 6. Had nothing to do with 7, 8, Back to Earth or X.
