Err that was a bit pants. What happened to the live audience to laugh along?

I know they didn't have a live audience in series 7, but all the others were and it made the show. Without the laughter the whole thing just seemed really flat...

Was a bit smeg 2nd half picked up a little though. Think having a budget has made it worse, need cheap looking sets and less fancy camera work. And was it just me or was there a lot of CG stuff? looked a bit naff

All the series had canned laughter. Seems very odd without it.
I missed the first few minutes, but I'll watch it properly at some point.

These days model work is much more expensive than CG, especially since some of the original models were damaged beyond repair (the original red dwarf was dropped and broken, which was the reason why red dwarf itself didn't appear in series 6 and 7)
